Ignition switched DC power from the trunk?

I'm currently installing a Dynavin D9 head unit into the car, however for the rear backup camera I need an ignition-switched power source.
Looking in the rear trunk area near the battery, does anyone have any ideas?

I would try the other side, plenty of power ignition switched, like the amp, the bluetooth module...I am sure you will find a nice red wire back there. Get a voltmeter and test.

I want to avoid going to the other side because it's inelegant and the wire wouldn't be long enough.
I've seen a couple things mentioned: purple/white wire for the amp, and solid white wire for the amp.

An internet terrorist found a solution and never posted it:

(apparently that mystery relay is for the rear window defroster)

There's also an accessory power outlet in the wiring harness on the right side by the battery of which I found a terminal that's +12v, but it doesn't seem to turn off.

I used the reverse light (blue/yellow). Now the camera will only turn on with the reverse light, I was hoping to have it on constantly that I could just hit the camera button, but also this is the proper way to do it without playing around.

That is a good idea indeed.

    Well it's not ideal, right?

I fucked up. The camera came with an extra + power line with the video wire that I could plug in to the head unit (Dynavin D9 - Fantastic). I ran an extra cable for the reverse light so I could have a nice trigger, but the camera would be powered on by the head unit. Stupid me wasn't thinking when I plugged it in. The two ends shorted together so the little like 50awg positive wire included with the camera cooked itself almost immediately.

So now I can't use the camera while driving (not that I really need to), and there's a slight but real delay when reverse is engaged as the camera powers up, and as soon as the car is taken out of reverse, the camera immediately powers down.

The Dynavin head unit is amazing btw. They get the details right.

Oh bummer, but you got lucky it didn't fry the camera.

It seems to all be functioning = congrats!

Yeah, well the camera wouldn't have fried. It wasn't plugged in. The wiring harness was weird, but yeah. It worked out. I have the Dynavin unit installed, I rate it a 4/5 (where all other e46 looking head units will be lucky to achieve 2/5).
