Curb Rash/Cosmetic Wheel Damage

Thanks to the pot holes that have been springing up all over town, I've developed some nasty "curb rash" on 2 of my wheels. I live in Western North Carolina and I've heard of people having their wheels repaired, but I'm not sure where to go to get something like this done.

I was thinking about trying to repair myself, but the wheels were powder coated black by the PO. I'm not sure I can make it look good enough unless I repaint the entire wheel.

Yep, you heard right - some members here have gotten it done. You can ask around by calling local shops. I think they'll charge around $500 to refinish all 4 wheels, I'm not sure about the powder coat though. Wouldn't hurt to ask them.

Hmm, I've not heard of any body shops doing this around here. I'll ask around and see what I find out.

I heard good things about Wheel Technologies, but I never tried them. Not sure they are in your area.

When I bought my e90, all the wheels had curb rash. So, I bought an used set of OEM wheels for $ 450. This option may not work for you, since you have powder coated black. GL.

I got a wheel that had curb rash (3 spots) and one gash refinished for $80 (at home service by Xtreme wheel repair mobile service - I am sure it's available in most states) and the wheel looks brand new- took about 45 min for the guy to do it.

Most dealerships have guys come in and do it too so if you need help finding someone they can point you to a quality repair guy.

My indy mechanic is coordinating mine. They just weren't too swift on the initial stages. Took a month to get color samples. But now that I've picked one, they're supposed to be able to actually get the work done in 3 days. Kind of anxious to see how they come out. I'm going with a nice anthracite gray metallic. I think it will be a nice subtle mod to do the stock wheel in a new color.

Also, the darker shade will be a little more forgiving of brake dust
