Wondering if anyone here has any experience with Kohalty's mtech2 replica bumper. I need a front end re spray, and it's kind of hard to ignore an mtech2 upgrade for 275$ (shipped), I don't recall ever seeing a forum review of the part so I'm hoping one of you guys can help out!

I have an Umnitza front bumper. Great fitment. Paid $170 and picked it up in Vallejo.

EDIT: being familiar with aftermarket (read: asian replicas), I'd say they are probably the same freaking bumper, sold for different prices. Khoalty/Umnitza don't manufacture the bumpers, I can guarantee that.

Oh yea i know that, they actually list the manufacturer on the site I'll have to sit down sometime and read into them, thanks for the incite

Umnitza will pre-paint bumpers for you btw.

I hear they are kinda so-so with their customer service, I have read some VERY mixed reviews on them.

Khoalty seems to be better, just comes down to cost really. Like Avesito said, it's probably the exact same manufacturer.

With shipping and fogs, Khoa is probably a better deal. I had the ability to pickup, so I went with umnitza.

The fact that they will paint is interesting being that I don't know of any good body shops around here..... Hummm

I have an unpainted Mtech II front bumper from Khoalty sitting in my garage. If I had the money to paint it instead of blowing money on suspension work I'd let you know how the fitment is.

The painter that they use seems to be pretty good. I talked to him and he is a professional and I think he either works at a body shop or he owns a body shop.. I was talking to him when I went to Umnitza back in October to pick up my wheels from them.

I was happy with their service when I purchased from them. I will probably buy their pre-painted M-tech 2 front bumper for my car this summer. Main reason is because they are local, so if I have any issues I can speak to them in person.

Does the quality of the unpainted bumper seem good? How was the freight shipping from them?

I will keep that in mind and certainly appreciate the help, I have yet to go online and look at what it costs to get it preprinted and shipped from them, been outside the past two days working on my interior :)

Dont see the option on their site for the paint, assuming that requires a phone call?

Yeah. I would give them a call.

Haven't examined it thoroughly but it looks like a solid bumper. Shipping was $100.

Yea I saw that but they ship it right to your house correct? I know that umnitza uses grey hound which iv had bad experiences with in the past.

That, IMHO is worth the 100$ shipping fee simply because I dont have to find an suv to transport it home in, and greyhound sucks...

You're correct. $100 is not too shabby.

Especially from CA to PA, I had a bumper sent here via Grey Hound from Cali when I had my jeep, it arrived looking like someone had jumped up and down on the box, bumper was a mess. I refused it and they had to foot the bill, id prefer to not deal with that again. Only problem is I dont know of a single body shop around here worth trusting, BMW of course but im sure it would cost something crazy to have them paint it.

You can prefit it yourself. Pretty easy if you know where the adjusting points on the front end are. Then find someone to paint.

Never had the front bumper off this car, can't imagine it's to hard though, problem is there's not many, if any, reputable shops ariund here for paint, minus dealers that will charge a ton

Keep in mind these cars are at a minimum 6 years old at this point. A pre painted bumper will not likely be a paint match. Not worth it IMO.

Khoalty bumper fits great, have one on my car. Plus as a matter of dealing Khoa on a personal level, his service is second to none. He is a stand up guy. Would definitely recommend.

The good thing is my car is black, don't remmeber the name off the top of my head but it's just black, no pearl or anything in it, that leads me to believe it wouldn't be to hard to match, and anything is an improvement over my fro t end now. Casey I'll keep that in mind because iv had issues with their service in the past so if he needs a kick in the ass I'll hit you up.

(resurrecting old thread, I know)

I just ordered a pre-painted front M-Tech II from Tim at Umnitza. Phoned in the order and saved quite a bit on door-to-door shipping & paint compared to what the website cart listed. They knocked $25 off paint and D2D shipping was only $10 more than Greyhound (instead of $75 more shown on website). $475 all-in.

I'll try to post follow-up once it arrives and I get it installed.

Just to add to the khoalty bumper, I've had mine painted and installed for about a year now. No fitment issues. Don't get the support bracket that khoalty sells, I bought it and in the install my mechanic told me it didn't fit.

I thought about doing this. Painting bumpers out here around $150-250 depending on what paint they use. plus bumper plus shipping.

most of the vendors get them from suvneer or jl-motoring. So where ever you buy, you going to get the same product.

Finally got around to installing the front bumper cover I got from Umnitza. Fit is good and paint match is perfect. The plastic "push rivets" on my original that attach the cover to the bumper bar (coupe & convertible) were busted up, so I just used nuts and bolts (Allen head M5's) and they're a lot more secure felt than the pushies.

One thing I'll mention - not sure if it's a positive or a negative. These aftermarket covers do not have slots for reflectors (coupe & convertible). That's probably a plus for most, considering how many e46 owners replace them with painted ones anyway. But, for those "in the know" it will be obvious that it's not OEM.

Nevertheless, this was a great deal and a fairly easy DIY. Very glad I ordered it pre-painted.

I'll try to remember to get some photos to post when the weather clears up.

Ressurecting this thread again....

Bird-dog, have you had a chance to get photos yet? I'm about to pull the trigger on this and tryign to decide which way to go.

Also- Anyone have experience putting a coupe bumper on a sedan? I don't really care for the rub strips on the sedan bumper and would like a cleaner look.

Ordered a khoalty bumper yesterday. Fucked up one of the splitters on a curb yesterday. It had dozens of chips and cracks anyway, so was due for a replacement. Will report back.

Just to install the bumper?! It took me maybe 10-15 minutes to get mine off and put it back on. I may be free this weekend if you still need help.
