looks like an enthusiast car. no price that I can see. Says no lowballers. I figure that's all he's gonna get with a major fix like that

It's really nice though. Although an enthusiast would fix his water pump preventatively...
I have a feeling he's gonna want way more than what it's actually worth.

He says he did the water pump and a raidiator recently
What would a proper bmw shop charge for a head job?
I emailed him late last night. No response as of yet. It sounds like he's been really lowballed. Like 5k lowballed. He should just fix it himself and get top $$...or maybe he's needing money...or just over the car. I'm keeping my eye on it. I'm 6 or 7 hours from there. My brother lives near it..could help me with a look see

He states he blew the 'head gasket', then states he blew the head. There's a difference..
My head gasket blew on my M3, then cracked the head....

I wouldn't pay more than $7k. That would be about the value of the car minus $5k to put a new engine in.
From reading the listing it sounds like his water pump quit and the car severely overheated. He replace the radiator, thermostat, and water pump and now realizes that the head gasket also blew.
IMO it doesn't sound like the extent of the damage was ever properly determined before they started replacing parts and now he's in over his wallet. The prudent thing to do at this point is have it professionally diagnosed, or buy it assuming the worst - that it needs a new engine.

yup that sounds very likely. you can feel his pain in the wording. He's a student that's been beatin' down by shop costs. Abandon ship!
I'll give him 6999 not a penny more

Doesn't sound too bad. At worst, he warped the head.
So, new HG.. new head. Doesn't seem too bad

Or a nice candidate for an enthusiast with the bank for a swap to get some real power out of it
