View Full Version : Finally getting a ZHP

Well I have wanted a ZHP for a daily driver since the first time I saw one so this time around I decided I would have to get one. Saturday I will be flying over to Portland to pick up an Imola ZHP. 6spd, 330i, cold weather package, and even nav. Hopefully it is as described and there are no problems but it is fairly well priced for around here so there will be a few issues.
Previous cars:
Just sold my LS1 swapped E36. Was a blast to drive but I am back in school again and it really isn't the best daily driver. Still a fun car though.

Also had an A4 that I really liked. Almost thought about buying a newer one instead of the ZHP but I knew that I would have wished I had bought a ZHP.
Brakes, downpipe, chipped, and suspension.

My first BMW was a 328ci E46. Great car and just really wanted a four door and it was borderline for power as a daily driver. Had headers and suspension work but otherwise pretty stock.

Also had a F350 (I really miss but there is no need for one while I'm in school), a Toyota with a ton of work, and a ton of Jeeps.

Other than that I have a beautiful daughter, wife, and a great dog. Love photography but only know enough to know when I mess a photo up. I have had some pretty good ones but it was at least 50% luck.

Welcome and congrats. How did that e36 chassis handle the LS1's power? That seems like an awesome combo!

Nice man. What part of MT?
I grew up in Hamilton, MT next to Missoula. Those pics are actually from Coeur d'Alane, ID. I am moving down to southern Idaho in a month and will miss this place too. I really hope I can get a job back here when I finish school.

Great Falls, and went to school in Butte for a spell in college.
I also hunted up St. Regis one year with a buddy.

Nice man. My brother is a police officer in Great Falls and my Dad lives about a hour away in a tiny town Valier. Lots of family in Montana and I am really hoping to be able to take a trip through MT this summer to see the family and the country. I want to actually stop in Glacier once as well.

So I picked up the car today. Pretty good overall but will need a little work.
Does anyone know how much Coby charges to rewrap a wheel?
Also the factory nav sucks. Are there any updates/maps that can be had for reasonable money?
Thanks and here are a few pics from the cell.

I just bought a ZHP as well - Imola at that - and my steering wheel needed a rewrap. CobyWheel is an affiliate of the site, and he (Mike) has an account: Coby1. I think he charges $175 + shipping for a rewrap, and you can either
1) Send in your wheel to him and have it rewrapped and sent back to you
-you can either be without your wheel for however long the rewrap takes, or in my case you can have him send you a loaner.
- Keep in mind If you have him send you a loaner you will have to pay for shipping four ways (your wheel to him, his to you, and vice versa for both.)
2) If your core is in good shape, you can order a re-wrapped core from him and send him your usable core, so he can then send that core to the next customer.
You also get a 10% discount because you're a member of the Mahhhhfia!
Instead of calling/email, I'm doing most of the negotiating with Mike over Private Messaging on this site - so feel free to send him a PM at Coby1.

Thanks man. I just sent him a pm.
Also anyone know if this wheel would work for my car if I can't get mine redone for cheap? Don't really want to spend that much but my wheel is pretty bad.

How much is a wrapped wheel from Coby without providing a core.

Look around on ebay, you can find BMW maps. Or, go to the dealer for way over $100 which is not the frugal route (I forget how much).

Thanks guys.
I went through the owners manual's today and found a factory nav disk so when I went out to the car there was a home made disk of California in there. Put in the factory one and the nav works way better. Still outdated but at least it knows something other than a highway.
If you don't go the Coby wheel route I have one off my zhp that is still in pretty good shape. We can work out a deal if that's something you want to do. Mike's work really is awesome.

The wheel trim isn't attached to the wheel in that pic so it might look a little funny.

Also have another question. Can I run 245/35/18 tires on the front without rubbing problems? I found people running 235's all around but haven't seen 245's.

I'm running 245/40/18 squared and lowered.....with 10mm spacers.

Thanks man. I'm kicking myself because I sold my last car and through in some 245/40/18 continentals with the car. Man I wish I had kept those spare tires. Oh well, now to get some new ones. The slightly undersized front tires really bother me.

I too am running 245s... I run 245/35-18 with NO spacers, NOT lowered, and I rub occasionally, but I've got a pretty aggressive offset, ET35. It all depends on the specs of the wheels/suspension in addition to tire sizes...
That being said, if you're looking to go square, I have two rear Style 135 (OEM) wheels for sale. Let me know...

That is what I would like to do eventually. Just don't have the cash right now. Is it possible to run two rears up front with 255/35/18 tires? Completely stock suspension and Style 135s.

That's funny. We have identical offset (ET45) with my 10mm spacers and 245's. My sidewalls are 12.25 mm higher than yours though.
