I bought my car with this dent on the quarter panel by the door. Some times I regret buying a car that needs a little body TLC, but the maintenance history was too good to pass up.

Anyways, the damage isn't too bad, but it's bad enough where it needs to be filled in, then painted. Also, the door jam will need to be painted because it has begun to develop rust on top where the paint has come off.

I guess my questions are:

1. How much do you think this will cost me? I have one quote of $475 - is that fair?
2. What do you think the appropriate way to fix this is (from a body shop POV).

Thanks!:thumbsup

I would say around $300.00 might be fair. IMHO $475.00 is a pretty good premium.

I was thinking it would be in the $300 area as well.

A few people have told me they think the ENTIRE quarter panel will need to be painted to blend the paint. Do you guys think that's necessary? Others have told me that's not necessary.

I have a guy in asheville. He did my car and ryans323 car. You are almost close enough.......

I had a scratch in the rear quarter that was going to be 350. So to me, your would be more expensive than that. I would think less than $500 at a shop you know is going to do it right would be money well spent

Going to need to blend and possibly even blend into the door as well? I think that price is more than fair. Could check out Mtnman and Ryans guy as well, I would have gone with him myself but wanted to be a little close to home. He comes highly recommended.

Gotta remember where you are factors into it too. Knoxville is a metropolis compared to the rural area Dane lives in. They shot Deliverance just down the street from him, he was a screen double, guess for which guy?? And he wasn't Burt Reynolds, LMAO!

with silver and damage next to door - I would blend door

R&R the door and the light, shouldn't have to remove bumper (maybe a partial) but the additional cost will be to re-clear the quarter including painting the sail panel. do not let them blend the clear on the quarter, the C pillar or any where on the sail panel...over time you WILL see the cut off

a good shop shouldn't need to blend the fuel door

they "should" remove the rain trim - but most will likely just tape off...irk
