Hello ZHP Mafia -

My name's Nic and I'm a new member. Im a self-diagnosed car nut, but then again who on ZHP Mafia isn't? I must be in good company. I live in Massachusetts and am currently attending the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Now onto the part you all wanna hear: what am I driving? I am elated to have picked up my first BMW last week - a 2004 Imola Red 330i ZHP, with a 6 speed, Alcantara interior, and black cube trim. You can most certainly bet that I hitched a ride from UMass just go back home (where it was) and drive it. Now I brought it back out with me to school and I generally take every opportunity I can to drive it. I might as well start a taxi service.

The car's got 110k, but runs really well. I have already planned out what I'm going to do with it right when I get back from school: 1 - Change oil/tranny/diff fluids, 2 - Replace the headlight lenses and side view mirrors (already ordered parts), 3 - get my wheel rewrapped at CobyWheel, and 4 - take it over to my good friend's house and spend hours detailing it (it's got a lot of paint swirls). Sorry for the lack of pictures; I'll be sure to post pics when it's in tip top shape after I've given her a thorough polishing. Don't worry - remember: It's not special :biggrin

A little bit about myself?
- I love cars and motorsports. Duh! (I watch F1 and follow endurance racing when I can)
- I ski more than is healthy for your average human. I like soccer as well.
- I love music, particularly classic rock
- I play the keyboards/piano

Phew, sorry for being long winded. There it is - Glad to be a part of the family!

Congrats on the new ride. Welcome! Looking forward to the swirl free pics. (PS Love classic rock)

Thanks everyone. Elric - IMOLA = AWESOME.

But - Jupiter, I've been oogling your alpine white ZHP for the longest time. I think the e46 is one of the best looking cars in white by far.

Welcome. Pics. More details. And did your car already get cooling system overhaul? If not, add to list! Expansion tank is prob at end of life.

Stigissimo

Pics and details come after finals when I'm home its nice and shiny. And oh no - isn't a cooling system overhaul about a thousand dollar ordeal?

Mtnman
04-24-2013, 06:59 PM
At least do expansion tank and water pump. Radiator may last for a while longer. Expansion tank is cheap and fails. I had original radiator in mine when i sold it at 180k, but expansion tank and thermostat and water pump were new

Edit: at least check to see if they have been done before

Stigissimo

Yep - Looks like I'll be adding that to my list as well. Thanks Mtnman.

Damn. I was at UMass the weekend before last, with my Imola ZHP at that. Visiting some peeps on North Pleasant, close to the Education building (and some dining hall). You joined the site 2 weeks too late!

Welcome though :)

Welcome!

+1 on the expansion tank - did some research on "what to look for" when buying a ZHP - this forum was a world of help in that area.

Sounds like a sweet car! looking forward to pics as well!

No. :shifty

DIY = $350?

Pretty easy DIY at that......maybe a 4-5/10?

If you're ever around here again shoot me a PM! Also, check out Prescott Rd in Sunderland (just north of Amherst) - pretty fun road to drive as far as MA roads go. Thanks Dane, I'll be looking into that ASAP. I have no idea where I pulled $1k from..:blink

Dane - Also a little random, but I read that you use them: Khoalty headlight lenses - go or no go? I have ZKW lights with Xenons and want to make sure I'm getting good replacement lenses.

I had khoalty.......and they were fine.

This time I went with Magnetti Marelli (AL) through FCPGroton.

I don't think you can mix lenses. Bosch on AL headlights and ZKW for ZKW.

Actually, not true. You can mix and match, they're the same. And for what it's worth, I have a set of OEM lenses, I can sell them real cheap I you're interested. They are in great shape, I'd say 8/10??

Stigissimo

Ooooooh Jupiter that is music to my ears. If you've got pictures and they look good I'm absolutely interested. I already bought lenses/gaskets from TurnerMotorsport a week ago, but I returned them yesterday after realizing the error of my ways - I could get quality lenses so much cheaper than $280 (lenses and gaskets)..

I had my eye on either buying AL lenses from Dane's Magneti Marelli link or Khoalty lenses.. personally I'd prefer to have OEM even though I heard Khoas are pretty good, but Khoalty drives such a hard bargain with such low prices.

Bottom line: PM me!

Learn something new! I thought since you had to differentiate when ordering they were somehow different.
