Ok I can get a set of style 264 wheels that I have been craving for the last year or so
I can get them shipped for $475. They don't have center caps or TPMS but i really don't need TPMS anyway. Do you guys think this is a good deal?
One wheel has a slight curb rash on the outer edge and they are kind of dirty but otherwise they seem to be in pretty good shape and I think when you consider the shipping cost of $200 this might be an okay deal
any opinions or feedback would be helpful
thanks a lot
PS This means my style 135 wheels maybe for sale in the near future

$200 sounds like a lot for shipping, when I shipped my old OEM 19's it ran something like $130 for all 4 through UPS. That said, the total price does sound pretty good.

On every ad I checked $200 was always the price for shipping for this type of wheel
Even if I put like $130 for shipping it still makes it $86 per wheel ...
I am very tempted but wanted some feedback before I pull the trigger

Usually around $50/wheel.

Sounds like a good deal to me Wash.

Yes. That's about the lowest I've seen for shipping. Sorry I didn't specify.

It will cost you <$100 to refurb the wheel with rash. You'll have your set at a good price imho.

Usually around $50/wheel.

Sounds like a good deal to me Wash.

For reference, when I bought my 135M's in October, shipping ran $33/wheel from Alexander, AR to Plattsburgh, NY. UPS Ground. 30x30x12 for ~ 30lbs each.

$33 a wheel? You must be dreaming. It's a heavy package, and a very large one at that. To have four would be stupid expensive...
Any time I bring UPS a package that large it always ends up being more than $50...

It would be interesting to find out what actual shipping may actually end up. I've been known to eat a small bit of the shipping cost just to shift an item...

Vmr usually ships wheels for $100 per set. They come in 4 boxes. I doubt they are loosing on shipping costs.

Thanks for all your input...

Doesn't really matter about exact shipping costs, guys; - even if you assume shipping only cost $100, (which is probably more than that), $375 for a set of OEM style 264s is still a good price I think. Most ads I had seen started at about $450 for the set NOT including shipping. so I think I am pretty happy.

Excited to get the wheels and get them cleaned up, and start hunting for a set of OEM center caps...any idea as to what the best place to look for center caps?

Tischer online has the new style center caps as a package of 4 for less than $50.

you need to package 2 or 4 together in 1 box for better pricing. In shipping the most expensive pound is the 1st one so limiting yourself to one package is cheapest option out there.

Got 4 different tracking numbers from UPS today, so I guess they're coming in 4 individual boxes.

The offset for the fronts is pretty off on those for an E46. You'd have to run spacers up front unless of course you don't mind the wheels being 'sucked in'.

About the $100 VMR comment - I would imagine VMR gets a 'break' on shipping since they ship so much.

I am not worried about it that much (I MIGHT get spacers later if it bothers me);
Here's a thread where ZHPmafia member MPHATIKinstalled 264s on his ZHP, and he clearly states (somewhere on 2nd or 3rd page) that they look fine without any spacers AND with stock tire size...so I think I am not gonna worry about it either, at least to start with...

http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?3640-Style-264-s-for-the-Vert

This is is his vert with 264s and stock size ZHP tires - no spacers. I think it looks great..
and his comment:

RE: Spacers - Don't think I'll worry about spacers. It looks fine and there is no rubbing. However, if I did, I estimated a 10mm up front and a 5mm in the rear would bring the tires very close to stock offset.

And another E46 coupe with NO spacers (confirmed on the related thread somewhere on Bimmerfest)
here you can see the need for spacers PERHAPS - but IDK if it would be enough to bother me...

E82's have similar offsets to our cars. I sold my spare set of 135M's to a guy with a 135i and they fitted without issues... I would imagine the reverse to be true as well.

I paid that with my own credit card on ups.com on 12 Oct 2012 for the 4 labels since seller didn't wanna deal with shipping. $132.xx in total. Maybe rates went up. Either way, I think OP got a good deal!

I've seen this car in person (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?2897-Fingers-crossed) and the fronts would need a spacer for me to be satisfied with it, and I'm far from a so-called 'hellaflush' kinda guy. If it looks ok to you, that's great. It saves you money. Quality spacers aren't cheap. :)

I guess I can always get spacers (perhaps a 10mm in front?) if it bothers me later....
I think a new pair is about $75 - $90 depending on brand...already did some research on it...

TMS :)

:)
Yeah that's what most people recommend - TMS, closely followed by ECS Tuning...
does TMS also have 'kits' that include correct extended bolts like ECS does?

...Also what's up with posts describing that one should be careful with 10mm or smaller spacers that they won't 'sit' properly or something?
As long it's hub centric, it should be safe, right?

Yes. I think that's mainly a disclaimer statement.

When you go to more info (to purchase said spacers), it will ask you if you want to add the extended bolts.

Thanks -
I guess to be 100% sure I can even go with a 12mm on front as the 264 wheels are 'skinnier' than the ZHP wheels anyway....

I've had both as well. The TMS spacers are a better quality product imho.

:) ^^ Yes - while searching on the subject, one comes across Dane's many posts praising the TMS spacers.
