Does anyone have a review on these or know anything about them? ECS is having a pretty good sale on them right now.

I've never heard of them either but they are pretty cheap. Do you know what the weight of the wheels are? ECS also has new factory Style 71's on sale for real cheap - good looking and somewhat light wheel - kind of wish they came on the ZHP's instead of the 28lb 135.

danewilson77
01-31-2011, 07:37 PM
yeah...the offset on those 71's is ET+20 though...pretty tight in the rear.

I think the alzors weighed around 22lbs?

I dont know why I think that, cuz its not on the website...lol.

I will talk to Joe tomorrow and get the weight.

i think those would look hot with your IR, Dane! I saw a lambo once that was orange (yeah i know), but it had black wheels with a slim orange ring around it like those wheel have the red ring, and it looked frieken sweet.

I think they would look good on my car....because of the drop and other mods. I was also looking at the Sparco's (Didn't know they made rims...lol)

Anyway...I'm kicking around a bunch of idea's...even 17" Kosei's.

Dunno about these... I think the Enkei's look much better.

The Kosei's are nice and all, but to me they look a little too small on the car. These are my track wheels.

Are those 17's?

IDK why...but I think an 18" Kosei would be FTW!

Dane, I also asked Joe about weights of those wheels a few minutes ago on bfc. Post up here if you get an answer and I'll do the same.

Also, consider the Apex ARC8's which are also nice and light (under 20 pounds each, weight varies by size)

You just shattered my plans. I wanted an LTW flag so bad because I haven't seen one on a ZHP yet, and now this. Great. :shifty
I really need to find out where to get it though... Do you know who owns that car?

n2Bimmer on E46 Fanatics. He had a local sign shop make it for him so no way to get another one. A black flag would look sharp on your car Botond.

Update on the Alzor wheel weights:

Style 716 18x8, Et35 - 25.4 lbs

Style 716 18x9, Et40 - 23.85 lbs

Style 703 18x8, Et35 - 24.3 lbs

Style 703 18x9, Et35 - 25.4 lbs

Style 706 18x8, Et35 - 25.1 lbs

Style 702 18x8, Et35 - 27.5 lbs

Style 718 18x8.5, Et40 - 27.25 lbs

Style 718 18x8.5, Et20 - 28.95 lbs

Style 722 18x8.5, Et35 - 24.4 lbs

In other words, far too heavy for what I'm looking for. I'm back to the Apex ARC-8's, Kosei K1 or Enkei RPF1.

Efff...those. I was gonna say, if they were light....maybe.....but those weigh as much as what I gots now. How do you think a 17" Kosei would look?

mimalmo
02-04-2011, 05:52 PM
17x8.5" Kosei K1's are probably the lightest wheel available for our cars without spending thousands of dollars per wheel for some custom race wheels.

These guys are underestimated I think. Enkei makes an 18" rim that weighs 18 and 18.2 lbs respectively......

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/results.jsp?&autoMake=BMW&autoModel=330i+Performance+Pkg&autoYear=2004&autoModClar=&filterFinish=All&filterSize=All&filterBrand=All&filterSpecial=false&filterNew=All&filterWeight=All&sort=Brand

18.0 lbs

http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/af278/nicee46/Maintenance%20and%20Misc/enkeir_pf01_bs_ci3_l.jpg

18.2 lbs - I would really like this in a gunmetal I think.

I like the lettering on them. Sucker for the visual aesthetics. I also like the fact a lot of people aren't using them like some other styles. I may just go for those. I need more data on durability of these lightweight rims though.

Do you guys know of any other sites (other than tirerack) that offer a good selection of wheel and tire packages?

Since Tire Rack is one of the ad sponsors here, I'd just buy from them so the site could benefit.

My question here is.....If I hit one pot hole....will they explode? Thanks for the pics. I think they look alright.

When I got mine, I got mine with brand new tires already mounted (Bridgestone Potenza RE-11's), so I drove on them for about a week to "break them in". After hitting numerous potholes the size of Alaska, I can safely say that my wheels survived. They have since been retired to their intended use: the track.

For the street, I would go for a more heavy-duty wheel than a light one though. If I hit some potholes with the Kosei in say, New York City, I would probably be crying my eyes out as we speak having to shell out $$ for a whole new set. If you want lightweight AND heavy duty, get forged wheels. Just be prepared to pay big bux for those.

I'm a fan of the Forgestars myself. A wheel that looks that good and is only 17.6 lbs in 18" is hard too beat.

The F14's will be definitely be my next set of wheels.

I think it's a new product. I didn't see anything on the vendors sight and all the posts I find are from ECS publicizing them. Alzor does have a 703 that looks similar (http://www.alzorwheels.com/gallery/sort-style/wheel-style-703-2/). The warranty sounds ok.

"Alzor warrants all wheels against original manufacturing defects, for as long as the original purchaser owns the wheel. Alzor warrants the wheel finish against defects for one year from date of purchase, excluding damage caused by mounting, road debris, corrosion, or wear and tear. Alzor wheels are covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty. Should your wheel fail to perform, it may be returned for a product of equal value. Returns must be accompanied by the original sales receipt"

danewilson77

I would only question reliability of finish and durability as there's no data..... Other than (typically) you get what you pay for.

Couple years later, anybody have any more info on the quality of these wheels? I just came across these that looks great for the upcoming Boston winter: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-alzor-parts/17-style-349-wheels-set-of-four/349a-14kt/

On a related note, is the ET45 offset too small?

EDIT: Just noticed ECS Tuning "Does this fit my vehicle?" section says it doesn't fit the 330i, is this because of the 7.5" width or because of the offset?

Those particular wheels won't fit because the bolt pattern is 5x112. The e46 is 5x120. Offset and width are fine though.

It doesn’t look like ECS has 17” Alzor wheels for 5x120, but there are a couple 18x8 styles for that same price. If it were me for sub-$400, I’d probably just grab a set of Style 68s for winter wheels.

Those would be for winter? One bit of caution I have is to be weary of salt getting under the rivets/lips. I think Style 71s are true two-piece wheels, and anything trapped/not cleaned very well will rot the wheels from the crevices. Sadly it’s a really common issue with the E39’s Style 42s also. I don’t mean to be a pessimist, just would hate to see you drop $800 on them and the winter ruin them.

Not bad at all—they remind me of the Style 205s on my X3. Really any E46/E90 wheel should serve your needs. I might’ve missed somewhere if you *need* 17s, but I routinely see 16” Style 45s on Craigslist in my area for absolutely dirt cheap—I’m talking $50/wheel.

I believe 16s might have brake clearance issues depending on the wheel.
