View Full Version : Angel eyes no longer work

All four have not worked since I put in new lenses and headlamp washer nozzle.

I have no idea how this could have affected their operation.

I have checked all fuses in glove box, and in AE circuit.

I wonder if wire tap is no longer, tapped?

Looking for family help, this Easter afternoon.

P.S. Battled with Justin's sunroof for 4 hours last night. I hate e46 sunroofs.

Thanks in advance.

Check at ground, at positive terminal and at ECU.

Could be a cut wire somewhere?

For all four not to work I would say its the wire tap. Can you use a volt meter and see if there is power at the angel eyes?

Check ground, fuse that is in the wire harness and wire tap.

I think it might be relay in the AE circuit.

Fixed. 5 amp fuse on visual inspection looked good.

Tested with a fuse tester bad.

Put in a new 5 amp fuse, and AE's flickered then went out. Blew fuse.

Put in a 10 amp fuse.

Good to go, and working now.

Does that mean transformer in AE circuit is bad?

Installing a bigger fuse isn't always a great idea. If you allow more current than the wiring could handle, you could set yourself up to melt wires, possibly start a fire. There is another reason why the original 5amp fuse went bad. Most likely a short circuit somewhere, possibly some nicked insulation that is touching metal, or perhaps a nick in a couple wires, shorting against each other.

Good stuff, DW.

What voltage do the AE's operate on? I don't think you have a transformer, it prolly all runs on 12V...

Agree. I did know this. I figure I'm probably ok to overfuse by 5 amps. I wouldn't go over this. If it blows this fuse, I'll just buy the WeissLicht HD 120-LEDs Per Ring x 4 Piece Kit - White Illumination - Frosted Rings - For Cars With Xenon Headlights.

Or....I'll try to redeem my lifetime Weisslicht guarantee. :)

Extra 5 Amps on the circuit is not a good idea DW. I would not do that and get your lifetime guarantee on the weisslicht working for you.

You can melt wires and start fires with that extra 5 AMPs.

I don't see anywhere that it states that the Weisslicht has a lifetime warranty.

When I bought them (2009) JLeviSW offered lifetime warranty for $30 more.

I don't think they offer it anymore.

What ended up happening here DeeDub?

Are you still running with a 10 AMP fuse?

Half of one of the rings on my Weisslicht from Jlewis is dim (no warranty for me).

No....fuses kept blowing. No A/E's for a while now. Will replace with V2's or V4's.
