Getting the SES light on Preston's car, used my Peake reader and got 3C1E, camshaft position sensor. Anyone ever had this issue before? No symptoms, the car is running perfectly. Looking for suggestions.

Yep. Cam sensors can go bad, but I would consider looking at the VANOS, too
Edit: Here is how to test the exhaust side sensor (https://wiki.bentleypublishers.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=87064580). Intake is similar.

Per Hornung's suggestion, ended up removing DISA and both boots, got down close to the electrical box and checked every connection. Nothing appeared loose to the eye or to a tug but nonetheless disconnected every electrical connection I could touch, sprayed both sides with MAF Sensor cleaner, let dry, then reconnected everything. Cleared the codes, drove it, and no recurrence, guessing I had a slightly bad connection in this area. A no cost fix, electrical even, doesn't happen often but I'll definitely take it.

Good stuff, Bruce! I like freebies.
