Yeah, first one is not a ZHP.

I think we have already mentioned the second one on two threads; it's Johal's old ZHP.

Also, first one is salvage, and by the looks of the ad, being sold by a Russian.

Don't know what SSG is but JP is correct, there are no SMG ZHPs.

Also, "owned by a moderator"???

I think SSG's were just the first version fitted to the 330's with Sport Package. The cool thing about those old wheels is that each paddle can be used for up and down.

Someone needs to try and retrofit those into the newer style M wheel.

to be even more technical, that is actually SSG2

here's an explanation I found of e46f:

the SMG I gear box was the first of its type for bmw and was introduced for the M3 E36,

the SMG II was an updated SMG I and offers more modes and is just all round improved this was avalible on the M3 E46 as well as others.

then there is the SSG gearbox this was avalible on the 325 and 330 E46s and here is where the confuseion arrives the SSG gearbox has a round 'sport' button at the armrest side of the gearstick and has this pattern.

the SSG gearbox was then updated and this is the on with the indecator panel at the base of the gearstick and the 'sport' button it the top drivers side corner, this gearbox was technically the SSG II gearbox but was marketed and referanced by bmw europe usually as SMG gearbox NOT SMG I or SMG II just plain SMG. and has the layout,

BMW then went on to say that the SSG orignal gearbox was by some dealers also refered to as SMG for ease of understanding. (personally i think to help sales).

and this is what the SSG 1 shifter looks like

edit: and this is SSG 2 from a British RHD car, in the US the sport button goes on the top left

The seller is either a liar or completely unaware of the car. Thats not a ZHP

SSG is from the old e60 545i.

I don't believe they came in any 3series from the factory for US cars.

there were some: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111993

basically SMG = M and SSG = non-M

not sure what the new version of SSG is called since SMG has been replaced by DCT

I don't believe there is an in-between; it's either manual, auto, or DCT now...

So then paddle shifters on non-M's now are just fitted to a 7 or 8 speed Steptronic?

I don't think the seller is necessarily "full of it" on purpose, I think he just doesn't know. You'd be surprised at how little people know about the cars they fix in the russian community sometimes. Somebody probably just told him "say it's a zhp and you'll get more money" and he went along.

or the guy changed the bumpers and rims and thought it was enough to fool someone.... just saying..

Actually, if you read closely, it says 330i sport ZHP Bumper Wheels. Sounds like he is just trying to say it's ZHP bumper and wheels. But he should not have put it into the title. That is the misleading part.

Or he could be shady and trying to fool people. Can't know for sure.

don't remember his username but that guy in Germany with the xi retrofitted his paddles to work that way. It was in the thread where the sport button was first mentioned on this forum
