Yeah...I had the pleasure of driving it home today, from Ashland to Williamsburg. Very solid. Rides like new. Interior is absolutely stunning. Alcantara wheel is 9/10. Trim is 9.9/10. Seats are perfect. I'm afraid if we hadn't gotten it, it would have eventually been ruined.
PO had put some type of camber kit in the rear, which made the rears noisy. That's why JW wants new ones. At 70 though, there was no noise. Noise was the worst around 40 MPH.

Well, I've done a bunch of things to fix it up. Always thought I could flip it as a backup plan. Had planned on keeping it, but now that I'm single again, my priorities have shifted. I either want to dump a bunch of money in the corvette to get it to the power level I want, or I'm going to sell both and get another e46 or e90 m3.
Why would he do a strange camber kit, Dane? I thought the car was at stock height.

02-14-2013, 04:43 PM
Yeah? Camber kit? Wtf?
Cam-wtf?
Jw- i like it. Also put on list, front bumper hook cover.
Didn't the car have an offset license plate bracket?
BTW who is the manufacturer of those front clear corners?

Nope......hole is already filled with no hole license plate bracket. Done. May get one to throw in the glove box later though.
Didn't the car have an offset license plate bracket?
BTW who is the manufacturer of those front clear corners?
Yes it did...but it was a train wreck. I let him hang on to it...hehe. I have the Euro-plate holder for my next mod, and gave JW the NHLPB.
I will see who manufactured them, when I get home. Most likely Depo.

$13,700 for 38.5k miles... am I missing something? Were Mafia threats made to purchase such a low mileage car for so cheap?
danewilson77
02-14-2013, 05:15 PM
Nope. Sometimes you just get lucky. He wanted $15k, but he told me he had a buyer lined up in Texas, that he was going to hook up because of the shipping. That was my new price ($13.7k) in the negotiations :)
I started at $13k :shifty
I had some pretty decent points and will need to put $600.00 to $700.00 in it to make it right.
I was looking at this car when it was listed on autotrader and zhp registery. However the auto was not my first choice and I never pulled the trigger on it. If it was a 6mt, the asking price would have been firm most likely.

Congrats on the purchase!
On the camber kit, did he have rear shock mounts or something? It's not like the front spindle where you can shim it to add camber. Very interesting.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the car had a reconstructed title. Nevertheless, great purchase and negotiation! Enjoy the ride.

This is indeed true my friend but a little research will uncover that the "totaled" threshold in Illinois, where the accident happened, is 33% of the cars value(Realllly low). In 2010, when the accident happened, that can easily be a front bumper, headlight, and corner panel...which is all that was damaged.
When the PO came to VA he had Sheila re-inspected at the DMV, full 200 point inspection. The threshold in VA is 75% so the DMV issued a "repaired" title. Carfax only states totaled/salvage which is why no one wanted to look at the car.
Think of Sheila as a bruised and battered young child. She still deserves to be nurtured even though her PO's did not. I can't...nay...I WON'T deny Sheila what she has been waiting her whole life for...true love.
TL;DR Sheila had some plastic surgery, there was no structural damage, and as DW has told me still drives like an absolute dream.

Young Grasshopper, much to learn. In your 1st post there's a number, women, including Sheila, absolute abhor their personal numbers being made public, drop future reference to that type of stuff. If some day in the future you should decide to depart with Sheila, and if someone does a little due diligence with research, they'll find out exactly how much your mail order bride cost. Never show your full hand, always best to keep your cards and prices, and female numbers, private, very limited disclosure to only the closest of family members.
She looks good Justin, I wish you the best of luck in personalizing her.

Hopefully me and sheila will never part ways and can grow old together. Watch the sunset over the calm Atlantic on a warm summers night. Take long sunday drives together ...drive too fast in the slow lane...typical old people stuff.
However, thank you for passing on the words of wisdom.

Funny how that works. When I bought my ZHP in 2009 with 22k miles on it, the VANOS started rattling three days after I picked 'er up.
Congrats JW on the new car.
What's the tire size in back? They appear to have a lot of stretch on those 9.5" wheels.

What is that part that you said ruined the rear tires?
Can't comment on the Eagle F1's, but I can tell you that the Conti DWS All Season tires were amazing when I had them last year. They were good in the dry, decent in the wet, and "acceptable" in the snow (just as all all-season tires are), and they lasted through 4 track days and 35k miles. :thumbsup

Looks like control arms to me, can't tell upper or lower though. And unless they're bent or the bushing is compromised, it was probably the alignment from their adjustability that led to problems. Those adjustable ends can come loose and change your alignment. It's frustrating.

Sheila went to heaven after eating the forbidden fruit (DISA). Car is sold as is.
Heart is heavy but neither of us have time for a swap. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180921/2328b446e576b5cb2691abab4af24a28.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180921/3f6e373e22196eeed5228c7f658f9db3.jpg

Sorry to hear! So it killed the upper part of the engine?
Is that why there is oil under the car.?
Will Justin need another car?

Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Most the oil was on the shoulder of the interstate.

Ecu/dem died?
danewilson77
09-22-2018, 05:44 PM
Ecu/dem died? No. All the oil drained out of the car on the side of the interstate. There was serious internal mechanical damage.

Yikes. I have no idea. Road debris (he says hopefully)? No. All the oil is on the interstate or in my garage. That's from his car. I'm thinking flywheel. Wish I knew what would cause such a catastrophic failure.

Haven’t seen an e46 flywheel but I’m thinking that looks too thin to be a flywheel?

I feel like it has to be the automatic flywheel based on the perceived overall diameter of the piece I have. But the drawing from realoem has pointed teeth whereas what came out of his car is flat. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180924/3e75d2fc54d2e907af2a22739a7ad5f2.jpg

That would be my guess. The oil pump sprocket is completely different and made of stamped steel plus, it's at the front of the motor

Wonder if the 6th conrod self destructed and took out the crank impulse wheel through the hole it made in the oil pan...
