That paint looks super shiny. So, what do u think about the paint job quality ?
Thanks Fredo. The paint has some imperfections, dust under the paint a little and not enough clear coat imo. Although I have to wait about 6 weeks before I can wax and try to buff out the imperfections. I'd say it's a 6.5 of 10. That being said, for what I have into it, it is satisfactory for my dd.

Excellent! Look forward to more photos of the new mods. Ha, ti started whining a few weeks ago and I am just about to order a new CSB. Looks to be relatively straightforward - drop exhaust, heat shield, pull driveshaft completely and replace. Damn thing only last 277,000 miles.

It looks like it is a drag car... is that all you want to do with it? Drag cars are not set up for corners, so just keep that in mind.

Couple weeks ago a guy walked up to me as I was refueling my e30 and asked how I liked it, I was like "I love it, so easy to work on and I had it repainted recently". I told him it was white with a black front and he then said "that's the car I remember seeing around town, you have had that car a long time and that's what I want to do... take my time and do it". I went over today to see his new to him 1987 325i vertical that started when he bought it and now does not, I'm going to lend him a cps and see if that helps, oh yeah, crank and no spark issue with good coil but nothing when hooked up. #oldcarproblems #rambling

10k is on the higher end for a swap car. The originals seem to be right there in value if well cared for.
Values for these cars are all over the place right now. I see a really nice one for less than 4k at the moment, while I see something around the same price that needs a bit of work.

I'd have to agree with JP and Shawn here. Because the E30 is your daily driver, it isn't worth buying a pristine E30 because it is just going to have the same problems down the road. If you daily the E46 and keep the E30 has a show or weekend car, then it makes more sense to spring for it.

$8500. My e30 has soooooo many miles on it that it would never be anywhere close to this one. I just recently noticed the floor pans are rusting through, I could actually see stereo wiring I ran under the carpet years ago from under the car. I really love e30's and would love to have a really nice one. I had thought about reaching out to you to see what you might be able to get your hands on.

The main problem with my e30 mileage on the body and structural issues, but when I got it it was a pos, I revived it the best I could while learning the ins and outs of it. It would be easier just to maintain one like I'm looking at. It would be a show/weekend car for sure. I would love to pull up to bimmerfest east in a very nice e30 like this one.

Live just outside of Raleigh but VIR is my home track (no decent road courses in NC). I race Chumpcar, WRL and a couple of 24hrs of LeMons races, about 10-12 a year and at least three of those are at VIR. Be back there in December for a Chumpcar race. We also race at Summit Point in W.VA.
When I was looking for an E30, I really wanted one that was rust free. I lucked out in finding this one at a dealer in SC, he had just shipped it in sight unseen from an auction in CA. It had some dings in a few places but my PDR guy did an amazing job on getting her straight. All original paint and while far from perfect, I will leave her as she is..

Well my friend was literally saying "I'll just give them to him..." (not sure if he meant literally or "really cheap") because he wants to get rid of all the E30 stuff he has and nobody has been biting on the set. They're not in excellent condition, I'll be upfront... the leather is pretty beat up. But, they're sport seats that are supposed to be heated (we never got a chance to try the heat on them) and is a full black set. We didn't bring it up before because we wouldn't have been able to transport them in my car anyway with the wheels in there. I have pics if you're even remotely interested... if you are then I'll dig them up. There aren't any holes/tears in the seats at least, I think they're just cracked from the leather being old and never treated. If anything, they're usable as-is.
You didn't like my black comfort seats :dunno lol jk
I couldn't wait to get rid of them when I had my E30. The E30 sport seats are the BEST seats I've ever sat in, as far as factory BMW seats go. :thumbsup
Johnmadd
09-02-2015, 01:34 PM
If you have some pics and they're easy for you to access sure. If he really literally wants close to nothing or actually nothing I'll probably be interested, I can always get some decent seat covers, the ones I have have some tears. May good karma come your way!

Cool updates. I think if you're having structural issues it's pretty reasonable to look around. That said, I wouldn't buy a 'done' car and maintain it, particularly as handy/capable/interested you seem to be in doing upgrades and projects yourself. I'd find something well maintained with good bones but not 'done'. That way we can watch progress to while you do sweet things to it.

Whatever dude. I have better things to do than argue with you.
I was just stating an observation that you always complain about gear ratios. Be it an M3 rear end swap or an automatic diff swap.

I have always had the 4.10 in this car, I was just switching the cover to one that has a good diff bushing. My e30 is an automatic so 1st gear really doesn't matter. It does go about 130 still...

The 4.10 is extreme, it's for racing grandma in the Honda at the stoplights :)

I thought you had a 5-speed! Night and day difference for sure between the two so that changes things a bit.

It was wore out and owned by 6 neglectful owners before I rescued it a little over ten years ago.

If you can do the work yourself, then why not! If you have the parts already then most of the battle is won.
