Has anyone ever plasti dipped their exterior side rubber moldings? Any pics? I'm thinking of color matching them with the car (silvergrey). It's attractive that it's quickly reversible... I guess I could refresh them black as well.

Thanks,

I think color matching could be difficult. I will probably respray any faded pieces black when I do my front bumper grill.

Yeah, I was afraid of that - but I'm thinking it won't hurt just to give it a try. If no one's done if yet I'll post up pics if I decide to go the route.

I suspect it will look pretty bad. A few people have done it with the E36 M3 when I was involved in that community and the results were always just worse.

MiniD just bought a silver grey car with color matched mouldings that I think he's trying to get rid of for black ones.

Buy his.

Don't do it. Removing it is a PITA. I plasti dipped a bunch of stuff on my mini and started removing some of it for when it gets sold. Any place where there are crevices make it very hard to get all of it off.

Ya besides if you took um to a shop it wouldn't be too much to have real paint done. $100 maybe

I will be dipping my exterior trim in the spring. It will look much better, but it won't be a color match. It'll be standard black.

You can order custom colored PlastiDip, but getting it to be a perfect match is incredibly difficult because it's not like you can just supply a paint code. It has to be mixed with the right amount of black and whatever other colors to get the right shade. If you want a color match, painting is your best bet.
