View Full Version : What did you do for your ZHP/ BMW / MINI today? #2

Funny....I didn't have that problem with my ZHP today. Although we got dumped on as well and the three lane roads where I live are not two lanes, I managed to negotiate the roads fairly well when I took my ZHP out today. :thumbsup
That's because your ZHP is at stock ride height.

Do people ever drop the front of their zhps a little and leave the back same height? I'd like the front to be lower.
Mtnman
02-11-2013, 06:53 PM
Sets like the h and r touring cup kit lowers the front .75 and the rears .25. So yes, that happens. It helps level the car

On another note....took the ///M in to get a new windshield installed. The roads were slippery and icy when I left my home this morning. Drove really cautious since I was running on high performance summer tires (rear almost at slick depth)....DSC was engaged most of the way off of my street today....was exciting! :)

I'm wondering if I should get a euro plate now. My bumper was a replica, and it came with the euro plate holder, not the US version. So I'd either have to buy a new trim (either a delete strip or a US plate holder) or just put on my euro plate holder and get a plate for it. Cost would be the same, around $30.

Thanks everybody, I've been eyeing these for a long time but never wanted to spend the money (I could easily buy two 2002s for as much as that kit costs)... but since huge savings are available, and the fact my OE suspension has 87k on it, I decided it's probably time to finally spend the money on the suspension I've wanted for a while.
Now I just need to figure out FCAB/RTAB bushings and some swaybars.

Purchase and replaced one of these. (trunk handle lip grip)
Got by without painting the new one though. Just cut the old part into pieces as the painted part only clips on, but to get the clips showing you have to destroy the old grip. If you're replacing it, chances are you don't need the grip anyways.
In my case, my license plate lights were corroded to shit. Still costed $80 bucks but oh well.

Nope, it's leaking. Bottom hose to the ET leaks at the neck. So it's either a seal in there, the hose, or the ET. Tank is empty now, but it stops leaking as soon as I close the cap. Open the cap, leak starts. It's pretty bad, makes me wonder what could make it start so fast.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
LAAAAME. Leaks at the neck? Is it at the cap, or some sort of hairline crack around the cap? Hopefully you'll just only need a new cap. I've got a good working cap I can send you for free if you'd like. Used, but it definitely works.

Throttle pedal was sticking today. Thought I ditched those kinds of problems when I switched to a car with drive-by-wire, but I guess it's not immune either.
Revs would continuously stay at 2k after letting off the throttle at times; a quick "pullback" of the pedal with my foot would let it idle again. Highly annoying because it made me look like I can't shift worth a damn.
Slid the throttle pedal assembly out a little bit and lo and behold, the pedal was no longer sticking. I did a few taps, soft and violent, and didn't stick again. Slid the throttle pedal assembly back and it's been fine since. Reeeeeeeally weird though.

I'm looking for new wipers as my rain-x ones are just about done. I've had them since I or the car.. About 2.5 years ago. So they've done me well.

Bought new wipers.
After driving in the rain for numerous times, I finally decided to get new wipers as my old were loud and bouncy. I ended up getting Rain X latitudes at first, but after 30 min of trying to install it with the 5 different adapters they have in the packages, I decided to exchange them for Bosch Icons.
The Bosch took about 5 minutes and installed perfectly.
Moral of the story: Pay for the better ones.
Hmm, I've always used the Rain-X Repel blades and never had a problem with installation... They are better that the Latitudes too, but cost a bit more as well...

The wife's has a BMW Performance strut bar, mine has an ACSchnitzer aluminum bar, my son is going to buy the ACS bar and mine will get a BMW Performance strut bar to match the wife's. Following her lead, she hasn't steered me wrong in 21 years. And a super great deal, $375 shipped, FTW!!!

You guys will never believe this... So the other day FedEx missed my wife at home for delivery of a package... The package was my Coby rewrap and matching boots... After all the shipping steering wheels back and forth (ship off my leather wheel, await delivery of an alcantara core in return, then send that off to Coby) she mentioned how she was genuinely excited to see the new wheel!!!
Well today she finally signed for it from FedEx... I had no idea, but I got an email from her saying she was very excited to see it, so when she got it, she went right ahead and opened it to check it out. Her exact words... "I like it!! It's subtle, yet attractive!"
Holy crap, she's taking some interest in my passion for the ZHP... I knew I married the perfect woman!
So anyway, got my wheel and boots from Coby today... She sent me a couple pics, looks awesome! :biggrin

Nice to see you've finally sorted it out :thumbsup I'm waiting until it warms up a little before trying the leather wheel on my car... Alcantara is really nice when it's -20 outside and you're not wearing gloves.
In other news, I had a lot of fun on my commute today... I went to class in the afternoon, so there was no traffic through my 10 miles of going up a mountain then down - never under 4,000 rpm. Gas shot up to $5.8x/gal last week, so I've been careful with my driving - it was a nice break from the grandpa hypermiling :biggrin

honestly, my shadowline is still in good shape. The seals are what is bad, but you can't buy just the window seals. :(
Just be happy you own a vert with less trim pieces to buy (the main one from the A to C pillar over the windows is $485 each side @ ECS, my inner door seals are over $400 each as well)

I'll be doing mine shortly. I'm rocking a TiAg and will leave them black at first. But there is also a TiAg in the FS section that has GM 135's that looks great too.
Best part of all this? Use the black first, get good coverage. Then spray over top of that. ;)

Cost. And not all colors are available and have to be custom made by Plasti-Dip.
It's a cheaper alternative. That and you can find black plasti-dip next to the other rattle can colors at the same store. :)
This all assumes you may want to remove the color you paint them. With the rattle can over the top of the Plasti-Dip it comes back off like the regular stuff.

Man, that's a great idea. This way you can paint it any color you want and it is still reversible because black plastidip is the base. But now I gotta be more careful not to get it on anything I don't want it on. ^.^

If you do wheels, the easy way is to use 3x5 cards all the way around the lip. That should give ya enough room. Also, when doing emblems and such, just tape a square. Then spray and peel from the area you don't want it.
