Hey Mafia,

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I chose here.

Long story short: my dog, Doug, chewed partway through the shoulder strap on one of my rear seatbelts. The driver's side, I believe. Anyway, I'm just looking to see if anyone has ever replaced one of these, where I can source one (probably pick and pull?), and how much it might cost. I searched ECS Tuning, Bavauto, Pelican Parts and Tischer BMW, but that really didn't give me much to work with. Alternatively, does anybody know of a quick-fix to this? Like duct tape, bonding material, stitching, some kind of tape, etc.?

It's not an immediate, holy-crap-my-car-won't-run repair because nobody sits back there except my dog. However, it's unsightly and now nobody can use that belt. It's one less passenger I can take, which is both good and bad. Mostly good.

Anyway, any replies are welcome.

Pete

Pete, I would think that the integrity/strength of the webbing is compromised from Doug's snacking, so I guess that would rule out the hot glue/duct tape repair as being 100% safe. :p

Seriously though, what about keeping an eye out on Ebay? Somebody has to have good used OEM belts up on there. I have not replaced one myself, but I would suspect that the belt retractor in the rear is bolted into place. I would think that access would either be behind the seat cushion or via the trunk.
