Hey guys and gals. I received a 100 dollar gift card for bavauto for Christmas and am looking for ideas on what to get for the car. I have noticed that my car doesn't warm up all the way one cold days (needle only goes to about 1\4 of the way up) so I was thinking of a thermostat but am also thinking of a shift knob or pulleys. Thoughts?

No shift knob until all maintenance is up-to-date. IMHO.
For me at least, if I feel/notice a problem then all planned mods are on hold and all funds for those parts are now converted into the "maintenance/fix fund."
Pulleys would be nice, half maintenance if they're old and half performance (free up lost power). It'd be minimal but still win-win? :)

Rule of thumb is usually maintenance first but I would have difficulty putting a gift card to maintenance. However if you don't really have the funds for the thermostat sans the gift card then I would go ahead and get the thermostat. Simply because its not healthy for the motor to never get to operating temp, this is especially important during the winter months....example CCV...shop around though you may be able to find a thermostat cheaper than what bavauto wants for it. If that's the case you can get both...win win :)

Thanks for the input. I thought I saw a thermostat on bavauto for like 70 ish. I'm kinda thinking that I might do pulleys too. Any recommendation on pulley brand?

Get an LSD! :) I got Turner pulleys and they worked just fine. Personally not much difference to speak of (maybe a little free-er mid range pull) but one less maint. thing.

Do you have the M Dead Pedal? Its only $70 at most retailers. Splurge on mods. Do maintenace on your dime. More fun that way :)

From a GS3, this was sent.

Never thought about an M dead pedal. I am for sure doing the thermostat and would like to do pulleys I think just need to find out brand is best bang for the buck. More than likely I will be doing the pulleys out of pocket. but I still have 30 bux to play with at Bavauto so not sure what to do with that.

i got the Rogue Power Pulleys and LOVE them. i noticed slightly more pull (might be placebo, whatever) and the design of the anodized aluminum looks and feels great.

stock left, RE right. notice the size difference.

i ordered directly thru Rogue's website. But they're the same price pretty much anywhere else (Turner, EAS, etc): $185 + shipping
