Yes both versions will. Are you looking at the box or the long tube?

I have heard good things about the long tube, but aware that Dinan no longer sells them. On their website it only shows the box available i'm pretty sure. Do you have experience with either of them?

lots of people on here have the long tube and love it, I personally would have probably bought it if I didn't get a BMW Performance one. Just look around in the classifieds on the other forums, they pop up now and again

long tube is the way to go. I bet on E46 fanatics someone has one for sale, if not they pop up every now and again.

The long tube is nice. You do run an increased risk of hydrolock with it though. For most it isn't an issue- but you can't say I didn't warn you! If you live in a wet or dusty climate the filter will also get trashed extremely quickly. It has higher gains than the box.
I had the Box. I sold it and just kept the brake tube part- I think I noticed some extra throttle response from the duct- but it could all be in my head. I'd guess the BMW Performance and Dinan box are about equal gain wise- that is to say- 2-5hp.
The Dinan long tube is more along the lines of 5-8hp.

i was told on e46fanatics that the long tube will only fit if i have AL assembly headlights and not ZKW, which of course thats what i have

Yes if you have zkw lights the ballast cannot be relocated. If you have the ALs you can use the M3 relocation bracket to make the available space.
From a GS3, this was sent.

They come for sale now an again. You can also look for some "magneti marelli" brand lights as they are the same. Search on here for them and you'll find some discussion. Either way though, you're getting into some serious cash just to change headlights for an intake. And that's all assuming you can find a long tube.
My suggestion? Buy the Dinan air box, keep your current lights and use all that saved money to buy some other mods and make up the difference in HP between the box and the long tube.

i hear ya, but a guy on e46 fanatics replied to me with this:
I just sold mine to a guy with zkw and it works fine. Only difference is when relocating the ballast, there are a couple wires, thin gauge, going from ballast to headlight housing. He just got some wire and extended those. The 2 actual plug harnesses are plenty long enough to reach
Anyway i realize this would be an expensive transition of parts but just for info, is this the correct AL headlight assembly?
it says the manufacturer is OEM Automotive Lighting

Assuming the seller is correct, then yes. AL stands for automotive lighting. But seriously, $835 for ONE light??? That's insane. I paid $600 for my pair.

I purchased mine from a guy on E46f.com, but he's actually a member here now as well. His screenname on both boards is jack.chris328 and the transaction was great.

Jim, you need a car with out xenons or a vehicle that can have the ballast relocated. A.K.A. no ZKW lights.

I picked up some for 500 from a salvage yard with bulbs and ballasts and working adjusters.
