Correct..
Swells were hitting the bottom of the pier today. The surfers were killing it.

Just out of curiousity, Casey, i'm sure that you shoot your shots in manual mode, do you have to just get lucky with the frames (as well as good) to get not blurry blurry of action shots or are you using some assistance from the unit? I use a canon rebel Xsi, and just got a 50-300 2.8 lens that i plan on using at football games.

For action shots the best tip I can give you is to remember that you can freeze most human movement at 1/800th of a second or faster.. You can achieve it a number of ways, but simply you have to have enough light, or fast enough glass to give you that speed.
I shoot water polo in Shutter priority at 1/1000 to freeze action.
I was shooting at 1/800 and full manual for the surfers yesterday. The faster your subjects are moving, the faster the shutter has to be to freeze them.

Will all you Californians stop rubbing it in our faces??? :(
More snow Wednesday. Not a single clear week since it got cold.

I still love the east coast, though. Don't like the snow but I would not be upset if I had to move near you guys.

You don't have to lie; you would be pissed if you had to give up your awesome weather. :shifty

I'm an east-coast guy at heart. No lying necessary.

I am the exact opposite of Marcus... I am a west coast kid from Seattle who moved East and then spent the next 13 years trying to get back to the West Coast.

But that's why Casey and I gel so well. We're complementary.

Where did you live East?
Marcus-SanDiego

Did not live in the east. Instead, I worked for an east coast news publication that required me to travel back and forth from San Diego to NYC on a regular basis. I considered Manhattan my home away from home.
Oops. Just noticed that Casey said he lived in the east.

South Carolina, Virginia, and Colorado. Yes, Colorado is considered East..
Anything East of California is East.
