The new wheels arrived today. Specs are as follows...
Replicas of the 'ZCP' rims on the E9x ///M3 (Competition Package). Basically, they're a classic look, but something different than CSL reps. I feel the CSL wheels are a little played out, and the ZCP reps are a little more current and aggressive looking, plus I've only seen these wheels on ONE E46, an ///M I saw searching on Google.
Avant Garde M359
18 x 8.5" square
ET 35
Tires are Yokohama S-Drive, 245/35-18
6480
6478
6481
6479
6482
Whats the weight of the wheels?

I've been waiting to see what these look like on a ZHP! I wanted to get these rims for daily. They definitely look great! I can't wait to see them on the car. I'm surprised you didn't go with 255/35/18 tires.

Thanks again guys.
Crickett- Hah, ok, well I will make sure to take some insanely good photos if they do make it on the car. I'm very excited to see them on it too, the finish on these wheels is freaking amazing... Especially considering my 135s are in pretty rough shape...
Derek- Yeah, I was thinking about that, but I was concerned with rubbing on the fronts. Suspension is and will remain stock, but wasn't sure about the offset. If they fit without issue, the next set will probably be 255s... We'll see... 245 is plenty wide enough on this car as it is I feel...

i think i deserve some credit for finding these lol! i definitely fell in love, and after seeing those pics, i kinda regret not pulling the trigger, however....
..i actually had these on order, but in staggered fitment, which apparently will only fit M3 on E46 chassis. i was notified they wouldn't fit and advised to change my order. went with the M310s instead, and while i do like them, i still think these look better. but the 18x9.5 ET33 just wouldn't fit out back, at least so i was told...
does anyone here with a coupe run staggered tire sizes on square wheels?

Wes- Yeah, I know you mentioned that you had ordered them, but at least in my case, I was already well decided. I've said a few times before, I personally love the newer BMWs and an E90 ///M3 competition would be my ultimate car. So, I knew these were the wheels I wanted a long time ago...
But anyway, you do get some props for also knowing these wheels are sick. I'm super pumped to get them on the car...
And also Wes, I remember you saying something about not getting BMW center caps or M stickers with your set. Where did you order from? mine came with both the center caps and the M stickers. And do you mind me asking what you paid??
webster
12-04-2012, 10:08 AM
Mine came with Avant Garde wheel caps. The M310s have a slightly smaller diameter for the center caps v. OEM (65mm v 68mm I believe), so the caps from my 135s didn't fit. I ordered a set of 65mm roundel overlays from ebay ($10) and they look perfect. No ///M stickers on the M310s since they are not factory reps.
I paid $999+ tax w/ free shipping. Mounting/balancing was about a hundred bucks or so.
JupiterBMW
12-04-2012, 10:36 AM
Ahh ok. Yeah, I knew they weren't reps, but didn't know if they still had the M sticker. As for the center caps, thats cool, as long as they look good, then I'd be happy. I haven't looked to see if the OEM center caps would fit on my wheels, but they do look like the AG centers are smaller. Either way, having the BMW caps is great. Maybe you could call AG and see if they'd send you a set??
Sounds like you got a good price too. I paid $950 shipped, no tax.

Jon,
I am running 255/35/18 all around on 18x8.5 +40 and I rub only on the rear (though I am pretty low.) The front never ran into problems. I don't think you will run into issues with stock suspension.

Derek- Ugh, tell me about it! I cannot wait to see these wheels mounted. Will look soooo freakin hot! As for the widths, to be honest, with the 245s up front the week or so before the accident, I would get a little rubbing when I turned the wheel hard over (pulling in and out of parking spots)... Not sure what's up with that because I'm totally stock in terms of suspension and stuff.
Anyway, I am wondering if I can upsize to a square 255/35 next time... We'll see. Needless to say, I will be MUCH more shy about hard cornering and stuff with the car now. I don't ever again want to go through the crap I am right now, so I'll be driving her even more cautiously...

That is definitely strange! I would never expect 245s to rub. What is the actual tire size? 245/35 or 245/40 18s? The 245/40 are about 0.70 inch taller than the 255/35/18s and the 245/35/18 are about 0.30inch shorter than the 255/35/18 in overall diameter. I can see the 245/40 being an issue for rubbing with almost 3/4th an inch extra diameter in the tire.
I definitely understand where you don't want to drive it as hard. Just remember DCS is there to be a nanny! I have it yell at me constantly during daily drive. At least my nanny lets me play at the playground (track). The front 225 on the rear probably didnt help either for you! :(

12-05-2012, 04:14 AM
Yeah I was surprised too. I did all the calculations before I chose the size I did. I'm on the 245/35 as they're closest to stock. They're a touch undersize, which always gives me just a touch of extra room when looking at the speedo. Its nice to know that if the speedo says 80, I'll probably only get pulled over for going 79. That 1mph can be a lifesaver sometimes! :rofl
And you're right about DSC. I'm totally not the type to leave it off all the time. I don't like to put any extra stresses on the car, nor do I want to waste tires away, they're expensive enough as it is. I've just been messing with it lately because I knew these tires already had replacements on standby...
With the new wheels and tires, DSC will NOT be coming off!!

12-05-2012, 09:09 PM
This is OT:
I remember a customer that complained his GPS was reading at 65mph and his Speedo was reading 70mph.
Apparently there is a guideline/bulletin that BMW has that says the speedometer can have 10% variance from the actual speed of the vehicle but it cannot be lower than the actual speed of the vehicle. I need to find that. but thats saying you can read 110mph and really be going 100mph.....
Anyways I can't wait to see them on the car! I would rub with those offsets but I certainly like the rim itself.
JupiterBMW
12-06-2012, 04:23 AM
You know, I believe that 100%. My last car was off as well, always read 3 mph over my actual speed when at freeway speeds... What sucks is that mileage is then accumulated faster as well... I don't like that part...
But oh well...

DW with the win. Very rarely do either of the cars stay outside, but she actually did that night. And unlocked too... :eeps I got home late from the tire shop and by the time I unloaded the old wheels and tires (which are separate too) I didn't have room to put the ZHP inside. Not to mention, it requires backing her in and folding the mirrors in to fit. And on top of all that, the alcantara interior was all in the garage too (had to take it out of the trunk to put the wheels/tires in. I'm a little cramped on space at the moment. Wheels and tires go into storage, and the interior back into the trunk of the car for now... Then all will be ok. What a PITA... Will be making sure the interior and stock wheels/tires are sold as soon as I'm home.
How much do you rub?
With these pics...I rub every hour...bazinga.
This. :rofl No seriously, I don't rub at all. Stock suspension, and it shows. I've got a little 4x4 status though, so I'm looking at suspension setups... :shifty
I can't believe you fit the alcantara interior in your trunk!? I tried fitting one convertible seat in my trunk and wouldn't even try because I was afraid I'd damage the car (too big).

Let me rephrase... Part of the alcantara interior. Only the door panels are in my trunk. The front seats are wrapped in plastic and sitting on the workbench, and the rest of it is tucked into cabinets in my garage. I basically just wanted it all in an enclosed space so that no dust would accumulate on it while I'm gone. Keeping it so fresh and so clean... :biggrin
