Okay, read a post about regulars being down, will try to raise some of them with this. My wife has an '03 330 vert, 5 spd, electric red, sand leather, no CWP, bought 20 months ago for Mother's day, had 65K miles, now has 86K -- so she loves driving it and parking the fuel sucking family SUV (11 mpg). I've done all the required maintenance and more (Service II & all fluids + spark plugs, brakes, expansion tank, belts, FCABs, tires, DISA, MAFS, valve cover gasket, oil housing gasket), a real good learning experience for me. It has a 3rd party warranty good thru mid-Oct or 109K miles, somewhat helpful. No accidents but hood was repainted prior to my ownership, likely due to road rash. Still very nice shape overall but road rash scars to front edge of hood have reappeared. I'm located in DC area, east coast, what's it worth?

And the planned replacement -- '04 ZHP vert, 6 spd, IR, alcantara, CWP, ready for this -- only 8900 miles -- original owner, garaged and covered. He bought it for his wife for her 40th bday, she doesn't like driving a clutch. I made an offer, the owner countered today -- what would you say this one is worth?

At that mileage, anything under 25k is prob worth it....

How about the current vert, think it will fetch $10K, obviously not on this forum?

Agree. The mileage is hard to beat. Under $25K is probably a deal.

Seems like a fair price to me. The 'verts always fetch more -- especially toward spring.

Thanks Marcus & Mtnman, I've about 99% commited to buying it. When I didn't bite immediately on his counteroffer, he invited me to counter his counter, which I'll plan to do tomorrow. Hope to get it this weekend.

The ZHP vert is intended as a b-day gift for my wife, its one of those divisible by ten bdays that guys ignore but girls get wigged out about so its this or diamonds. I know she'll love the color and the stick, I'm a little concerned about the alcantara, she doesn't like cloth or dark interiors. On her current fun car, I searched 6 months to find her a light color interior, red exterior, stickshift and I insisted on no accidents. She never raises the top during warmer weather here, I know the alcantara will be fine if she gives it a chance.

I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of it when you get it.

Definitely will post those, alongside the son's '05 SG step ZHP, maybe even her old vert in the background. Now wishing I had been a little more aggressive on that AW '06 in Delaware, but will find my own ZHP at some point. For now, I'm content as the caretaker (i.e., the one that finds, pays for, and maintains them).

Year: 2/2004.

Mileage: 98k miles.

Purchase date: August 2010.

Purchase Location: Arlington, VA.

Purchase Price: $17.2K

Dane,
Not fully understanding your assessment, found this on what you paid about 6 months ago. Surely you'd agree that 1/10 the miles yours had at purchase plus a vert vs. a sedan has got to be worth more than just 5% above what you paid. Am I missing something in the logic?

I can't imagine that this 'vert could be had for less than $22K. I just don't see it.

Low mileage is a plus here and I imagine it shows.

I think the car would be a good buy anywhere in the low 20's.

That's awesome! It drives me crazy when I see someone driving a convertible with the top up when it's sunny and 75 degrees outside. Unless we get caught in an unexpected rain shower, the top on our convertible is never up during the warm months.

FINALLY BOUGHT IT! Paid for it this afternoon (wrote a check), got the title, he's keeping the car in his garage for me until I get back from a Cali trip this week. Tried to take a couple of photos but it was way cold here, didn't come out too good. I'll try to get some next weekend when I move it somewhere for storage. The wife's b-day is end of Feb, so have to find a place to hide it for 4 weeks. And then there's still the unknown if she's going to like the alcantara; if not, Marcus you have first dibs. (I'm traveling your way this week, 29 Palms & Camp Pendleton, staying at West Inn in Carlsbad.)

The West Inn is 19 miles from my house.

Congrats on the purchase!

Monday get in too late, Tuesday have a big dinner with coworkers, could catch a beer Wed night if you're up for it. Thurday, moving down to SD so don't have the traffic for my Friday morning 7:45 flight.

Wednesday night works for me. I will see if Casey can join us too. We can do BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse, which is right by your hotel. SC4ME and JHiggs live near here too.

Plus the guy was a gentleman, easy to deal with, then the price made the grand slam, I'll tell you Wed. His wife just wanted it gone, he had hopes of capturing a higher percentage of the nearly $50K he paid, said he was going to cry in his bourbon tonight, so I bought him a $60 fifth of Bookers to catch those tears.
