Hello everyone,

I'm glad to be a member here. Forums are great. I would like to share my story with you guys.

Side Note:I am planning on saving some of the ZHP stuff for the project thread.

My name is Cam. I'm a mechanical engineer in Atlanta. Huge car guy. About a year and a half ago I got one of my dream cars. An e46 M3. Low mileage. Great condition. I loved the car. Not exactly what I wanted color wise, but I got a good deal. Drove it for 9 months. Put 11k miles on the car. Ended up spending about 5 grand on "regular maintenance." Inspection 2. Rtabs and fcabs. Tires. I was so frustrated. Listed the car for 5k more than I bought it for even though I had no real intention on selling it. Someone bought it for my asking price. I figured that was great. When else are you going to break even on a car that you drove for a year? So I set about searching for another M3, but in the color combo I wanted.

Stay tuned for Part 2: Corvette.

Lol. Yeah. The porsche is a lot of fun. It is a little out of my price range though. The vette is much cheaper. I'm jumping ahead, but here is my ZHP. Needs some TLC. Already picked up the new mirror cover.

First order of business:
Tag/Registration
Drive Belt
Fcabs
Rear Diff Bushing

Just got a ticket for no tag. It's taking forever to pass readiness after resetting the codes earlier in the week for emissions. Looks like I will be doing a lot of driving tonight.

Awesome, you bought Richard's car! I haven't met him personally but we've chatted in email a few times and I hear he treats his cars well (through a mutual friend). Thought that car looked familiar. Nice to see it went to a good home! I actually considered getting it for myself to use for road trips, but it's not the best time for me to acquire another car that I don't really need.

I actually posted it on here hoping someone would snag it. It was a very good buy.

Yep. Very interesting. I actually saw it on bimmerforums. I cheated and reused some of his pics. The car is getting it's first real wash and wax tomorrow, so I can take pictures of my own. Richard seems like a nice guy. The car being the wife's and not his makes sense. I noticed a bunch of little imperfections checking the car out that he wasn't aware of. It definitely needs some work, but mostly appears to be minor stuff mostly. A little cosmetic. The front could use a respray. Drivers seat needs to be recovered. And then the mechanical stuff I listed above. I've already put 1400 miles on it though. (in 2 weeks lol) Been a good car so far.

Congrats bud, welcome to the Imola club.

edit: would your dad be interested in a 996 to 911T trade? JK, love the common Bavarian mindset in your family. Love your car selection bro

Thanks guys. It's been fun. Went on a mountain run Sunday after our cars and coffee. What a day. The car was fantastic up until the all season tires got greasy. At that point I started making myself carsick.

I have actually been catching up with the original owner who is now driving an e90 m3. Really cool to know the history of the car. In fact, it's the first car I've ever owned with all of the records including the window sticker!!!!

Looks like I'm going to set up a work day this weekend to catch her up on some of the issues. I promise I will get to the rest of the story at some point too.

No. He's in Maryland outside of DC. I tracked him down through bimmerfest forums. lol. Although I suppose I could have called or written a letter since I have all of the maintenance receipts.

I saw you and that E36 at Caffeine and Octane this month! Don't know if you saw me, I was the Graphite ZHP coupe a few cars down from you. Are you going in January? I'll be there with some friends, a good friend of mine is coming back from EOD school for Christmas and getting his dad's old SVO. Hit me up any time you have something going! I'm in need of BMW guys to hang out with, all the car guys I know have American or Japanese cars. It's fun, but it gets old lol.

Edit: Forgot to say I'm out in the Woodstock area

I must have just missed you. I end up spending so much of C&O catching up with friends. Do you have a facebook? We have a group http://www.facebook.com/groups/ATLBIMMERS/ The BMW guys are great. I have been hanging out with a lot of them for over a year now.

The BMW guys normally meet at Cracker Barrel right down the street at 6am for breakfast before heading over to C&O together. Not sure yet if I will be in town. If I am in town I will definitely be there. Hope to see you around.
