But didn't realize I'd have that little challenge on the passenger side with the positive terminal jump connection. Here are some pics and am interested in how others tackled this issue. For now, I just pushed it into the European master cylinder area (aka, the drug bin). But had to leave my hood open sensor unplugged since its not contacting anything.

And here's how its supposed to look as it is on my coupe.

Poor lighting, will get btr pics tmrw if needed. The dealer installed mine. Basically moved the switch to the other side and ran wiring.

Thanks, John. It looks like your dealer just flipped the whole thing around. The battery jump connection is normally outside the box and the hood open switch is inside the box. I'll try to do that tomorrow in better light and with a clear head (already into the cocktails tonight).

Bruce,

Here's how I installed my Performance strut brace. As you can see I simply deleted the jump terminal and used the same mounting points. I can still jump by taking the rear cover off and use the + point there.

This pic taken of my recent install on the ///M

I rerouted the engine cable here

A better angle where the engine cable connects:

Hope that helps!

Bruce, here are the actual directions for installing the strut brace.

Your welcome.

I just swapped sides for the pos terminal, cut the hood sensor/cover apart with a dremel and didn't install the hood sensor since I don't have the factory alarm

I didn't like the BMW approach of adding wire to the hood sensor and having to mount it in the engine compartment so I came up with a different plan and kept the hood sensor in the drug bin.

Hard to explain how I did it exactly but once you take things apart it should be self-explanatory. Takes a good bit of Dremeling of the pieces, so much so that I was beginning to wonder about compromising the strength of the hood sensor bracket, but it came out fine and feels plenty sturdy enough. You can see the silver head of the bolt I used to mount the switch bracket. The only tricky part was deciding where to drill a new hole in the bracket so it would be at the correct height for contacting the hood. Got lucky and got it right on the first try. :-)
