Got a Valentine 1 for the holidays and trying to figure best placement. I was going to hard wire and mount on visor but that location seems too close to my head and not in line of vision so it seems like a windshield mount is the best answer but looking for other ideas.

Mine is hardwired and mounted right next to rear view mirror. Solid location.

Mine too (though mine's an Escort Passport).
Also, look into the remote display so when it goes off, it doesn't advertise it to everyone on the road.

I have the concealed unit. Have never installed it.
Jon, if you want it, I'll sell it to you for my cost -- $39.

I went on the road trip with the V1 using the cig cord along with my Garmin. Ended up just putting it above the Garmin in the middle of the windshield. That seemed to work pretty well. Let me see how it works over the next bit and if I'm interested in the remote I'll PM you. Not sure there is a good place for it is part of the problem as I don't want to block any of the gauges. Key is a no event trip up to Orlando :)

Could you please tell me which fuse did you use?
Thank you.

Wish it was that easy -- on the vert non of that wiring is there... I'd have to tap onto the wiring for the overhead lights and no place for the direct wire box. Which is why I'm using a 'Shack' splitter on the lighter outlet and just popping it up for now. But we'll see if I feel the need to get fancy.
