Are splitters still a hot item? Mostly I am talking about are the CS (Two Fang) plastic OE splitters. I have noticed quite a few have been going up on sale lately. How much would a used OE splitters cost nowadays? Not Carbon Fiber. Most I've seen have scratches but no cracks. Do they easily crack after hitting a curb? BTW, I know splitters has been discussed before but they were mostly concerning different types of splitters.

I have the CF ones from Khoalty, they look the same as the clubsport ones I've found on Google. http://www.khoalty.com/bmw-e46-m-tech-splitters-m-tech-ii-bumper.html
Here's how they look:

You can choose the ABS option, they obviously aren't OE but they look the same IMO. For aftermarket splitters, fitment was pretty good, 9/10.
I've scraped them twice on concrete parking bars but they didn't crack, you can't see any damage unless you look on the underside

The seller sent pics and they are OE. With scrapes, what is the ongoing price for used splitters? BTW, most of the scrapes on the pics were all underside.

If they are not cracked and just need refinished I'd say 150.00$.

I didn't have the same experience with my khoalty cf splitters. Fit was 7/10 at best. Maybe more like 5 or 6. Took quite a bit of work to get them decent.

I don't think they are ricey, they would give the bumper a more aggressive tone if you ask me.

If I "were" to get splitters for my ZHP then it would be the carbon fiber clubsport versions. I think the carbon fiber weave gives that classy yet aggressive look and goes well with the MTec II front bumper. However, I'm not a splitter kind of guy....I prefer a lip with my BMWs...:)

main thing i'm worried about re: splitters/lips is scuffing them up. i try to avoid scrapes at all costs but sometimes traffic/weather conditions make them unavoidable. it would piss me off to buy and install some nice CF splitters and damage them.

I love mine! Have them a couple years now. Bought primed, had a customer who works at a local Chrysler dealer body shop paint them for me, in exchange for me to make him a couple pizzas! Boy was that a good deal! :thumbup
Never had an issue with them scraping. I am actually thinking about possibly getting them molded to my bumper over the winter.

Well, a body shop would use an epoxy of some sort (so I have heard) and mold the splitters to the front bumper, for a look similar to this below, though these may have been different splitters
Snapped this pic at Bimmerfest a few weeks back. Tried to find the owner but nobody was around, does anyone know whos car this is?? Are they on here and I just don't know?? :dunno

I was able to purchase the splitters from the CL ad. I was able to get it for $100 shipped from Fullerton to San Diego. Arrived yesterday PM. Yes, they are OE splitters. Photos to follow soon. Would need to be primed and repainted. But in the meantime, I have a couple of Qs....
-On the upper lip, it looks like a double sided tape was used to mold the upper area to the lower bumper. What is the best method to remove the old/used tape?
-Where do I purchase a very good 1/4" double sided tape aside from the dealer?
-If no other choice than the dealer, what is the P/N for the tape?

Yes it does help a little. Thanks... I like how the splitters above do not go way up the sides like the ones that DW has... What brand are these??
For the rest of you interested in molding. Basically, bodykits, lips, and splitters are all just stuck/screwed onto a car, for the most part. Typically, they are placed right over the existing bodywork, and when done that way, there is a seam or joint where the new piece and OEM body panel meet. A lot of people use double sided tape to fill and seal this gap. It does the trick, but its not perfect. And speaking of, the best tape to use is 3M. They make some that is about 1/2" wide and it is in a medium grey color. The backing plastic is red. Once you peel that red backing plastic off, you better make sure you stick the part in the right place, because it is NOT coming off! Very good stuff. If you choose to 'mold' them, basically, all you're doing is using body filler to fill that joint between the two so that they look like they are one piece. This is a much higher quality look, but its more expensive as it requires the body work and paint afterward. Also, once done this way, the look is permanent (at least without doing additional body work/paint)...
Hope this all helps... FWIW, I used to work at Andy's AutoSport a million years ago...

CTD,
A large number of friends are interested in getting splitters for our M Tech 2 bumpers. We have decided that the Performance Splitters are the ones we want, but sadly they are NLA from BMW. I noticed that you had made a mold and had made several copies.
My friends and I would be interested in your business and a possible group buy and large shipment to a single location to be distributed by our own means. We already have 10+ interested parties and would be willing to make this worth your while for a quality Carbon Fiber Performance Splitter replica.
Please let me know what you think of this arrangement and return any thoughts you may have.
Justin
Hi Justin,
I'm interested in producing a larger amount of the Carbon Fiber splitters. If we're talking about 10+ units, I can make the prices a lot more interesting.
I don't know what shipping prices are for large amounts.
Please understand that it takes a day to make one set. So if we're talking about 10+ units, please give me 3 weeks as I also have a daytime job an a quite busy schedule.
After production I have to spray each splitter with a UV repellent clear coat to prevent yellowing over time (I use the most expensive epoxy but every Carbon fiber part tends to turn yellowish.)
Please also understand that I can't agree with a group buy if every contender has his/her own wishes (like: colour, wave, other material (like fiberglass)).
I have one unit ready to go out the door, maybe you can buy this one as a sample.
So if you agree with this all, please contact me on my normal email address which is: CTD16@msn.com
Kind regards,
Tom Corthouts
So let me know what you think and if you would be interested in the prospective plan of action, please make it known.

Also...here are the CF part numbers for the OEM Performance Splitters:
Left: 51 19 0 414 342
Right: 51 19 0 414 341

Personally, I think Hornie should handle the initial shipment as he is on the East Coast. That is the shortest distance to Europe and will save our Belgian buddy some money on shipping (or save us money, however it works out)... From there, yes, flat rate shipping will probably suffice for all of us here.

Dane, the CF splitters are not dependent on coupe or sedan. These don't wrap around to the wheel well.
This post brought to you by Uncle Clark's Anti-gravity Cream. Put some on your Super Collider just before the Big Bang.
Now I see the difference. I got the wrap around and the other is straight out from the fangs from an M3.

For what its worth, I contacted the sales manager at my local dealership... He's a neighbor and friend, and he told me to get in touch regarding anything I need. So, perhaps he can dig up some info, maybe a few sets laying around here and there... We shall see...

Are the P/Ns for the Performance splitters for the ZHP the same on the posting #37 or are they for the M3? I also know a BMW parts guy. So he also can do some digging around.

It's definitely a little extra work so I would have no problem if you didn't want to ask. They are trim pieces that were only available in Europe or a Euro-ordered "BMW Individual" car, but I'd love to see if there was some way to buy them here, from there.

I don't get it, it just says "mounted part" - $259.... So, first, is that an OEM BMW Perf c/f splitter? And, that price is for 1 each?
Secondly, if Rob/Kpro can actually get the BMW Perf. kind, I got 2nd dibs.

Here's what Tom has gotten back to me with.
Hi Justin,
The price is right at 250USD. When you buy 10 units, shipping is free of charge. I have to tell you that I had the OEM splitters on my car and wasn't happy with them. The OEM splitters are so thin, maybe just 2 layers of carbon fiber. That's why I decided to make my own with 4 layers of Carbon fiber, one layer of glass fiber (for the inside to prevent moisture getting to the carbon fiber (carbon fiber can't handle water) and a UV protective clear coat.
I hope to hear from you soon.
Kind regards,
Tom
So free shipping from Belgium to the US. Sounds like a great deal saved on shipping. Let's see if we can get more than 10 people interested.

"I know the pieces you're talking about. They're part numbers:
51190414342 --$245.48
51190414341 --$245.48
These are not NLA, but there is zero quantities in both the US and Germany. This means BMW would have to have another set made, which would take some time. I wouldn't be able to get an accurate ETA, but would be guessing somewhere in the 2-3 month wait time. I searched our database and found no dealer with these in stock. Sorry I don't have better news for you."
