Well since it seems like not of the sunshades sold in stores fit the window of an E46 I decided to pop for one of the Bavarian Auto Ultimate sunshade.
http://www.bavauto.com//assets/product_images/b/bm-r.jpg
So far on Day: 2 It has been great. The fit and Finnish is tremendous, the shade even comes in a leather bag for when not in use.
I will continue to update as this is Florida So I will have to test its durability.
UPDATE: This thing has been awesome. Custom fit sunshades are definitely the way to go. I have been very happy with this product and would not hesitate to put it in any car.
I will throw up some pictures this afternoon.

I have one for the E36 (have had it for several years actually) and really love it when the sun gets intense. Makes a big difference with the interior temperatures.

This is the same thing I have and the same thing BMW and other BMW specialized shops charge a bunch for.
It's just a Covercraft UVS100 sunshade - with BMW letters on it if you buy it at the dealer.
I got it online for a lot cheaper from some online place where you can order Covercraft sunshades for your specific BMW.

True, mine is blank. No "BMW". Low cost

i bought one of these this week, received it last night. $70 shipped might seem a little excessive for a sunshade, but down here in TX our summer heat is brutal, and i was looking for the most protection i could get. i gotta say, compared to my flimsy walmart sunshade i was previously using, this thing is f'n awesome! it's 6 layers thick, fits the windshield space perfectly, folds up completely rigid, and comes with a sweet vinyl carrying case. i love it.
I got one when I purchased the 'Super-ZHP'. My daughter and I love it...and it only gets to 105F here in Wisconsin.

Great to see you around Michelle. Hope your s/c is still crankin' along!
Thanks, John. She needs a new fuel pump, but she still runs well enough to smoke a 335! One tried to drag me yesterday--he had me in first (I upshifted at 5000), but second gear was all mine. A half-mile later at a stoplight, he told me he knew he was in trouble when he heard the S/C whine! :)

Hi Shawn,
That's the shade that I've used on my last two cars. Covercraft model number UVS100. I love 'em, though they definitely have a limited lifespan. Initial fit and finish is superb, and they are the single most effective solution to cabin heating; I've also got relatively dark-tinted windows, but the shade is the biggest factor by far.
Here is what mine looks like after two and a half years of daily use. You'll notice the seams between each section start to sag a little (they didn't initially) and there's some hefty breakage where I always grip the thing when folding/unfolding the shade:

If it is the same one as the BMW one that the dealers sell I see them for under 50 bucks on the dealer websites. I was thinking of getting one soon.

Thanks for the review and recommendation Kevin. Tinting is on my list as well. I think I'll start with this though.

Dragging this thread back from 5 years of stagnation as this heat wave got me shopping for a sunshade and apparently this is still the best option out there.
Now y'all know I ain't about to pay full price for any damn thing, so I searched back from the BavAuto part number and found the same, non-BavAuto-branded product available on AutoAnything: https://www.autoanything.com/driving-accessories/60A5833A0A0.aspx
Waited until a code popped up for 21% off today (FLASH21), so now I've got the ultimate sunshade on the way for $43.44 shipped.
Stay frosty

Good call. I use mine a lot in the warmer months. It does really help.
I just got a generic one from Costco for $8 and it works decently.
