View Full Version : Cubes? We Don't Need No Stinking Cubes!! (Non-ZHP Interior Trim Thread)

I've tried for a long time to find a unique (To the USofA) interior trim but I cannot for the life of me figure out what Moongrey looks like. Any part number I search for turns up nothing. Every page I click on has the part number, the cost, but no picture! So does anyone really know what it looks like? Does it even exist!?
There are a lot of interesting Individual Trims and Fine Woods. But the most interesting ones are the ones found on the base model Limosines. Ones like Sieblack Grau:
5479
5480
and Birke.
I'll post up some more interesting ones when I get back from dinner, but if you want to entertain yourself for a few hours, use the word "interieurleisten" in your google and ebay.de searches.
Feel free to post up some of the interesting interior trims you find offered by BMW. Let's make this an organized database with pics and details in one post. Should be a great destination for people looking for trims.

I've been on DE.BMWFANS.INFO scouring for part numbers. Is it called Titan Cube Trim? I'll do an extensive part number search for you tonight. Probably going to cost an arm and a leg from der Vaterland.

I have no clue what it is actually called, this is just what we thought it is after much debate. It was the trim available on the 2002 M3 GTR Strasseversion

I would replace my carbon fiber trim in the ///M for these...:)

I've seen titanium shadow on older m3s here that have come into the dealership. Shame there isn't a 4 door version. I would've probably wanted a set too. My buddy has like a gloss black trim on his 2000 323ci and it looks super clean. I like it over my black cube lol

The guys in Europe readily ditch the cubes for the Hochglanze Schwarz trim. Pretty strange. Why did the base models get the M packet and that came with the cubes??
JP I'm still looking for the mythical Titan Cube trim. I'm really thinking that it was just silver in low light.
Thinking about buying THIS (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/www.ecstuning.com/Search/01390009644/ES12676/) and just calling it a day. I can then get OEM teilenummers and take pics/scans of the sample cards and confirm all the possible options for the e46. That would be a great database source for the community.

If you and Seth get your asses to the Burg for SIGFest '13 you can compare it to someone's Silver Cubes. If Charlie was bringing the ZHP you could compare it to brand new Genuine Silver Cubes.
I'm genuinely disappointed the American Marques don't have such interesting interiors. Everything is plastic and vinyl and faux wood trims. How come WE can't produce a car that the RoW market lusts after? Even in Europe the American Makes get spiffed up and they get the cool models like the compacts or the hatch backs.

Of the GTR?? Yeah the verts have unique head restraints due to lack of a B-Pillar.
The sexy party time was a reference to Ryan's video of his LED interior lights strobing a bunch of crazy colors. Pretty funny.
Anyways. I actually just found a seller here in the states that has a full set of Moongrey trim. But he only posted the swatch...Requested pics of the entire trim kit to get a feel of what it actually looks like. It's in the LifeStyle section of the trim categories...not sure what that included back in the day, but apparently this trim was part of it.

@ Justin: if you're going to sand the Myrtle, can I suggest an idea? The body shop that's handling your front end repair/mod is going to have left over paint. Have them paint the trim to match your car like BMW does in the Z8. I have seriously fell in love with your blue, btw!
Hornung418
08-20-2012, 09:05 AM
Hmm. I would, but my wallet is stretched pretty thin ATM. If it was a black interior I might, but grey is meh. Great suggestion, Ry. Only sanding because the clearcoat on two of my pieces is cracked and that would show up through the vinyl and drive me nuts.

You know, I've always been a fan of the Birch trim. I have no idea why, because personally I think wood is tacky. But, if I had a luxury oriented car, this is the trim I would choose...

Yeah...ask Dane what he thinks about that trim and he'll ask you if you need handrails when you take a poo.
Here's a set that includes the auto shift knob in Birke - BIRKE INTERIEURLEISTEN (http://www.ebay.de/itm/BMW-3er-E46-Satz-Holzleisten-Dekorleisten-Interieurleisten-Birke-beige-/180939649850?pt=DE_Autoteile&fits=Make%3ABMW%7CPlatform%3AE46&hash=item2a20d7f33a).
I personally like it. It brings a great contrast to a black or grey interior. It's to monochrome with the beige interiors.
I also made contact with an ebay store who has just ordered a single piece of the Moongrey trim specifically for me. I cannot wait to see what it looks like.

JR, I Couldn't find a P/N yet, but my guess is that if the Sedan Trim Kit ends in 83...the Coupe Trim kit ends in 84. Plugged it in to Tischer and got a Woodset, much like the Sedan P/N reads.

I think silver cube trim for coupes/verts is around that price as well. The coupe/vert trim seems to typically be a couple of hundred bucks more on average than for sedans, which to me makes no sense to me...

It has to do with the armrests. Those are complicated pieces. Generally larger and more difficult to make than the sedan door trim.

A little more makes sense but not that much. The door trim on a 2dr is kinda more to intricate make than the 4dr trim but I don't see that much of a price gap

The difference on the coupe though is you can't buy just the trim for the armrests......you have to buy the complete armrests, front and rear. On the sedans there isn't any trim on the armrests, just on the door panel. $440 just for two silver cube front armrests but you can get a complete trim set for a sedan for $100 more.
This interior aint too shabby IMO :drool........
