Are there any other options other than the Spec Dock by BSW? IMO it is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY over priced. $160? FALSE!

Any other options? DIY's? Anything? I need one of these for my new job. I use a navigation app to find clients for appointments, play music, take calls, and text via Siri's "talk to text".

I need to dock my 4s somewhere accessible. Right now I just have the cord and phone on my USA Spec laying in the passenger seat and that aint cuttn' it.

On a side note, I am OCD about things so it's gotta be clean. Some of you may remember, a member here had one for sale for 35 but sold it elsewhere. GAAH! :facepalm

Any help would be amazing.

Not a dock, but I use one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0060LP328/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lp o-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0056AMQLU&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX 0DER&pf_rd_r=0D7VFVZ291J7YAR8CB9D

Meh. I dont like those mounts. My OCD does not like them. I like my interior to be as oem looking as possible. Plus I need something that would be a quick dock and un dock. I cant be trying to plug in the phone numerous times while I am trying to drive.

So no other dock options? Thats kinda what I figured. Looks like if I want a dock I'm gonna have to spend the money. Bogus. I tried fabricating one in the rear ash tray and it worked, but the fit was too tight for the cable and I ended up ruining my cable somehow. I may try to fabricate on in the existing ash tray. I will take a look tomorrow and see what I see. If if doesn't look good then I guess I'm gonna have to spring for the spec dock. So expensive. Stupid expensive.

Ballers do this to charge the iPhone and extend antenna coverage with OEM Bluetooth. :)

The only other company I know that makes such things is LumiDock http://www.lumidock.com/

Currently they only make an insert for the E39 ash tray, but they say they are developing versions for other cars too. May be worth dropping them an e-mail.

Way overpriced, but not necessarily when you buy used from e46f.c.

I'm tempted to break out my chisels and rifflers, and build something like the specdock, but in Macassar ebony or cherry or piano black lacquered maple. It shouldn't be too challenging, given the symmetry of the iPhone from the 4 onward.

That sounds really nice Michelle. I found a used spec doc on e46f.c for a good price so I got it. Fortunately I'm not an iphone user so I don't have to worry about adapters for iphone 5.
