Well, not sure how long ago but a bird pooped on my car and Iforgot about it (i know I should be ashamed of myself), and as I was washing my car I found like a clear bubbly texture as if the poop dried clear, I tried scratching it off but it is very difficult. Please tell me this isn't my clear coat

Not sure how long it was there but last time I washed it I didn't wax it but I did use wash and wax and dry and wax I believe (but that is no substitute for a real waxing), so once I wet sand do I have to re-clear that area?
I'm thinking of taking it to a guy I know who can fix that and while I'm at it getting him to do a touch up on some small chips in paint, and buy the towhook cover I'm missing for him to paint too....
What do you guys think?

wetsand can take it out...depending on how deep it is. I fixed my E46 when it happened.

WTF did that bird eat???
Wetsand gently, buff and go from there... It'll be fine.
That same shit happened to me on my headlight (no pun intended. No wait, pun fully intended)!! I had to get a 3M restoration kit to get it out. It was nuts.

Better take care of it now before the acid goes inside the CC and eats the paint. Ask me how I know.......

I found a few small areas that had rust repair done on mine after about the 4th wash after I got it. But I thought of it this way, if the previous owner cared enough to fix small rust damage, they must have taken at least decent car of her before I got her. lol?
But yeah, I think you might be alright if you get on it sooner than later.

Never seen bird poo do that before is the clear coat really that thin/fragile on our cars?

Bird crap destroys paint.
I carry this and this:
http://www.detailedimage.com/wax.php?id=13407&url=detailedimage.com/Meguiars-M43/Ultimate-Quik-Detailer-P386/22-oz-S1/

If any poop lands on my car, I immediately pull that stuff out of the trunk and wipe it off. In San Diego, especially near the beach, we have a lot of seagulls. The poop is huge and it is acidic. Starts eating through clear coat right away.

When I wetsand, I like to use 1800 with some soapy water in a spray bottle. After it's nice and smooth, follow up with some Megs 105 on a surbuff with a DA, then I use a Lake Country tangerine pad with Megs 205 to polish. Finish it off with blackfire .. BAM. Perfect paint, everytime. I've worked in a body shop for years, so I have a bit more experience. But if you feel uncomfortable, try 2000, and take your sweet ass time.

Ok I found this
m105 and m205 http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Meguiars+M105+M205+
And I can buy the sand paper, ifi dont already have it, I have to check. And it should be ok to polish with any wax? Like dodo juice

This......is what happens. One of the POs just left it alone. Ate it all the way through the clearcoat and into the paint.

That looks nasty JR, hope it comes off ok for you. Just a couple of hours ago I stopped at a local boat ramp for a bit, maybe 15 minutes, and came back to my car to find 2 small spots of bird shit on the hood. Luckily I got it off with some window cleaner before it even dried. After seeing these pics I just went out and hit that area with some wax just to make sure I got it all off.

I have something almost exactly the same on my hood from the PO. Fortunately, it will be painted soon.

UPDATE!!!!!! Lol
After going at the bird poop with 3000 grit I got all visible signs of the poop out, but obviously it left that entire area dull, I tried dodo juice to no avail, so I went ot and bought megs ultimate compound and it worked
nite my only concern in if I look at the area in a glare I notice I can still see the very faint outline of the poop, but I can't feel it, so I came to the assumption that it may have molded our waited a little tter clear coat, but no damage to paint or car
Here are the pics

A porter cable matched with a wool pad & some Megs 105 would have gotten that area all shiny again after using the sand paper

I looked for it at advanced auto and this was all that I could find and me being impatient bought this and luckily it worked like a charm and brought the area back to it's original shine

I'm a big fan of the Meguiar's Ultimate lineup. I too have the Compound and used it to remove haze across the entire roof of my previous car. It was so glossy compared to the rest of the car that I went and did the whole car just to make it look good. Such a beautiful wet look after that!
Nice work! :thumbsup
