from SIGFest 2012. I wanted to join this forum after meeting so many awesome people that became good friends at SIGFest this past weekend. Now I'll admit that I am a member of a bunch of forums....from everything about camping, guns, toyotas, photography, ect.
When my fiance joined this one I told her that ZHPMafia was just another forum (I apologize for this but it's true) and that she was blowing this "SIGFest" thing way out of proportion. I tried to talk her out of going numerous times but she was persistent. So, once I knew the battle was lost, I decided to bite the bullet and book the hotel room.
On our ride down we met up with a couple nice guys....Chris and Matt. They seemed cool but it was too early to tell how this weekend was going to unfold.
When we got to the parking lot at our hotel and started to meet everyone I was still cautious, everyone was totally new to me of course. We checked in and I met Rob and Kristen, they seemed like a nice couple and we talked a little while they were getting their room. We went back out to the lot and met up with everyone else. There was this guy named Charlie, SUPER NICE GUY, crazy about the BMW we brought to the event. I loosened up a bit talking to him about my fiance's car.
When we got to the house we were meeting up with everyone at and this guy I've never met before, lookin like Chip Foose in those shades, came up and gave me a hug I was shocked, what a genuine fellow!
As the evening progressed and I met Casey, Kyle, Marc, Keith, Brett, Chad, Ryan, Rob, Robin, Gary, Stu, Justin, John R. (well we didn't meet him until the next morning and that son of a gun bought me coffee!!!!) and many others that I apologize for not mentioning at this time I began to realize that there was a fresh pot of Crow for me waiting back at our hotel room. And I must tell you ALL I don't have to eat Crow very often!
I have never met a group of more genuine people in my life. You guys treat each other amazingly. You treated me, a total stranger, amazingly. If the world functioned as this ZHPMafia does it would be a much better place for us all to reside in.
So....I do apologize for making this unjust and wrong judgment of ZHPMafia.
Well, this is supposed to be an introduction so here goes:
I don't currently own a BMW but I do work on one quite often. When my fiance decides which BMW she wants next (M3 or Z3M??) I MIGHT get a set of keys to that one? We'll see how that goes.
I used to HATE BMWs. But when I fell in love with the most beautiful and inspiring woman in this world I quickly realized that her car was coming with. That car broke down on her all the time but she loved it! I fixed it on the side of the road a few times with my leatherman for pete's sake! I tried to get her to trade it in, I even had her at a dealership in another car, she couldn't do it.
There was only one thing to do, make it dependable so I wouldn't have to worry about her being on the side of the road. That's where her car's "official" build thread should start. In my garage fixing leaky gaskets, cooling systems, transmissions, wheel bearings....the list goes on. I taught her everything I know about vehicles since I had ran a mechanic's shop out of my garage for a few years and have to modify anything that I'm going to drive. She quickly followed suit and now not only is her car very dependable now, but it is gorgeous.
She loves her car, even gave it a name. I have learned that she is my soulmate, and I'd do anything to make her happy. Believe me there were many late nights in my garage workin on her car!
I've also learned that BMWs are great vehicles. They just need a little more "coddling" than other cars and usually lose their dependability if you treat them like 1985 Honda Civics. I would love to own an M of some fashion one day (maybe a tuned 135i like Kpros!!!) but I'm sure that the next one we purchase, will also be my fiance's. I MAY be able to drive it from time to time...when she's asleep or driving her other BMW. Only time will tell!
I thank you all for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful forum and family. I will cherish it and try my hardest to be a benefit here.
If you've read this far and don't know who I am there is a good chance you weren't at SIGFest (I miss you guys already!!!). I'll hope to become more acquainted with the rest of you all as time progresses.
My name is Kyle and I am currently sitting on a couch next to the lovely Ryans323i.
