The guy is a machinist and designed a better flap, retainer and the bell crank lever. It's designed so there is no chance of that pin falling out and ending up in your engine.
I'm tempted to get one and install it just to avoid future issues. My Disa valve has about 27,000 miles on it now so it should be in good condition still.
It's also a good option on a worn Disa since it replaces all the wear items.
