So yesterday I was cruising around in my Imola, when I happened to pass by a local Audi dealership.....I was SOOOO exited to see a silver grey ZHP sedan. I swung around pulled in and had to take it for a test drive...It is an 04 with 47,xxx on it. It was manual with leather, and black cube trim...opposite of mine which is also stick, but with alcontera ans silver cube trim. This car drove sooo mint and fresh feeling. My Imola had 162,xxx on it and i am really debating on whether to pick this up or not to have and keep put away for when the imola can no longer make it and will have its motor swapped for an e46 M motor. WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!! im stuck and need some advise :eyetwitch

If you can afford it, I say get it.

Personally I'd keep the silver gray zhp BONE stock, and make the imola into a M3 sedan or vice versa. Keeping one stock will give you the chance to enjoy the zhp for what it is, and the M3 sedan will be... Well it will be beast :)

Um... It's always nice to have a spare? Seriously - the cars are getting older everyday... That's some really low mileage...

If it's not a bad decision financially, do it!

personally i love the zhp, but to be realistic if i had to get another car i'd pick up an m3 for my 'play car' and keep the zhp as my daily

If you could afford both I say do it :thumbsup

Of course, I have my ///M as my "play car" and the ZHP as my daily driver :)

I thought the same thing, went ahead and bought another ZHP to keep clean and my coupe is the play toy. :headbang

I really like the idea of an ///M and a ZHP. In a 1.5 to 2 years, that is my plan. So I'm on board with your ZH///M idea! (see what I did there? A ZHM, yeaaaaa)

IMO I feel like if you really want to have a S54 you should just save for a M3. That's just my thinking though.

Here's what I would do. I would do it in a heartbeat, but I would probably sell the imola. Keep the silver grey bone stock, then buy an e30 m3! hehe

I'm on the M3/ZHP bandwagon. If I was looking at spending that much money, I definitely wouldn't get the same car. I'd get something different.

Or how about throwing an N54 in your imola and buying that silver grey?!

The electronics of it all are very complicated. Not a straightforward swap...

That's why an S85 is more in order. :biggrin

I second this opinion. If I could have two ZHP's and turn one into an M3 Sedan and keep the other stock I would not think another minute about it.

DOOO ITTTTT

Your money, but I would not do it. I would want something significantly different. I'm not against having two cars. I kept my Tahoe, great grocery getter.

When the time comes to replace my S54, this is what will be going in my ///M :drool

Charlie, although I as well love the brute force available in the S85, either a S62 or S65 are better track engines, specifically the S65

OK, could someone match the engine #'s up with the original cars and save me the lookups?

Well then JP...I will have to look into doing an S65 retrofit someday :)

S85 = E60 M5 V10

S65 = E9x M3 V8

S63 = X5M/X6M Twin Turbo V8

From the voice of experience, I currently have 2 ZHPs, both fairly close to stock. A coupe and a conv,I love them both. But my wife and son drive them primarily, so I 'm searching for another for me. I've debated the ZHP vs. M3 equation a bunch of times and I just think its less headaches to get another ZHP, and so my
Search continues. And I've had 5 other E46s over the last 3 years, nothing, absolutely nothing compares to the complete driving experience of the ZHP. They did it right once, and we're the lucky "enjoyers" of that bit of engineering. AW, alcantara, 6 spd is my current quest.

I actually said S62 (which happens to be my favorite Motorsport engines of all time only after the M12/13), but I guess the S63 should be included in the list.

S62 = E39 M5 & E52 Z8 - V8

Everything happens for a reason I guess. Im just going to continue my search for the perfect hellrot red or estoril blue E36 M/// =]

Honestly, personally, as much as I love my ZHP and plan on keeping it forever, I couldn't see myself owning 2 E46s. I had always said I would get an E46 M3 and daily the ZHP in the future, but having something else and an E46, I think, would be wiser for me. Porsche baby!

But if you feel you will like it and it makes sense financially, dooo itt! :)

Funny you mention this....I love Porsches but found them impractical to own. From my experience the maintenence costs were way more than what I experience with my ///M. The other day I came upon a Porsche 911carrera. It was just him and me, no one else on the road. We looked at each other and it was game on. I had a blast. They are beautiful cars, no doubt but I'm happy with my choice of having my ZHP and ///M. Perhaps someday I will add to my stable and get a Porsche...:)

I would love to have a zhp and an ///M but I'm gonna bet that once I get the zhp paid off I'm not gonna wanna pick up another car payment for a while haha...
