View Full Version : Non-ZHP from Germany, getting an invitation ...

Hello from Germany,
I'm a 330XI Automatic-Driver and got an invitation from e46fanatics.com to come into the ZHP-Mafia-Board. I think it has to do with my know-how about the GM 5L40-E Automatic Gearbox, which is also build in the ZHP-Models (and XIs from Germany...) ...
I've done very much at my car, all with technical know-how and modified it to the best i could do...
Only a few things:
- retrofittet the original m-performance-package
- retrofittet the Tire Deflation Warning on DSC5.7 with a extra-module and RPA-Switch
- all fluids are new
- automatic gearbox overhaul with modified torque converter and Transmission Control Module (Software from 330i US ZHP Engineering Version which shifts @ 6800 RPM)
- ECU-Modification to S199A = without catalytic (EURO1) and modified Maps
- overhauled engine with all new bearings, water-pump, fluids, spark plugs, vanos, sensors, lambdas...
- new front axels and bearings
- H&R Monotube Coilovers with Meyle HD Struts
- Dynavin integration with amplifier under the passanger seat and Rainbow System complete, in combination with HK Subwoofers and a second amplifier
- 230V Plug in the trunk
- modified leds in the speedometer (white)
- retrofittet SMG-Steering-Padles
- activated Torque Converter Clutch in 3.th Gear @ 45 mph, in 4.th @ 50 mph in 5.th @ 70 mph with completly closed and not opened by pressing down the pedal
- waiting for ASA T3-313 Forced Induction System to raise HP from 250HP to 350HP ...

Thanks for all the commects, feels good to know, that other people around find my car nice and clean :)
Becouse of all replys, i will post a little more pics from my mods. In the E46Fanatics.com the "Sport-Button" is a thing, that many others want - becouse it changes the way of accelleration feeling, throttle intense and engine reving. It feels like the Sport-Mode at a M3 =D

Welcome. Great car. Was yours the thread where you put the Sprint Booster behind the sport button? If so, I want to do that but I need more details on how (I have a Sprint Booster and a sport button/panel that I bought). Or, was this something else? Either way, I have a STEP and I'd love some info on how you made it shift more effectively.

It was me. It's not easy to get the Sprintbooster working with the Sport-Button. But some Details, that you will help to figure out how it works:
The Sprintbooster has a switch, coming with it to adjust the increase of throttle aggressive. The small thing has three working grades "OFF" "SOFT" and "HARD" - the LED will tell you "Soft" in green and "Hard" in red.
It's nessessary to open the small control unit, find the small button-switch and the LED. Only this two things you need to extend to the middle-button-center with your added "SportButton" and disconnect all of the factory-default connections of this single button, becouse its your "extended" Button from the Sprint-Booster.

I was most impressed by all of your mods, but specifically your sport mode mod. This is something I think I would like to retrofit to my ZHP eventually since I get to use this in my ///M any time I want :) You sir, have skills! :thumbsup

Yup. My issue is that there is "room" in the sport button... so I don't get that on/off button push... it's kind of "mushy" if that makes sense. I don't want to push it and have it get stuck in the down position for example, and not pop back. Makes sense? How did you resolve that?

Willkommen!
Wow...amazing ride! Makes me want to put my city lights parts together and get them wired in.
Nice transmission work, nice to see someone making strides in A/T tech.
Your VANOS is very very clean, you've taken good care of that engine.
Look forward to some good tech writeups from you.

Hageee, don't know why I didn't ask this before, but do you have any DIY write ups for the work you have done such as the sport button?
I know my self as well as many other people would love to read up on it more.

Hmm... it can do that, but it's not as easy as it seems to write in a good, technical english... but i will do - please let me some time, becouse my father bought a e46 320iA Cabrio two days ago ... uhh ... can't believe, that another e46 is coming to me ... uff :-/
today i spent three hours in my car to get this dirty Transmission Control Unit working with the newest, latest software from BMW... but only with several dirty tricks i was able to get the latest software, found in my darkest edge :D
Did you know, that BMW spends some time in middle 2006' to overhaul the complete transmission control module? They had realized, that torque converter slip is not the way to get a car sporty. Nevertheless i've done it and i got the latest software working ... what a different, what a huge change - the steptronic shifts like a SMG :D
