Hey guys I am planning on doing brakes this weekend and a friend of mine mentioned that there is something that is used to keep the brakes from vibrating while in the caliber. Has anyone used this while installing new pads? If so where did you buy it?

Any anti-squeal paste will do. Should be able to pick it up at any auto parts store.

What KG said, keeps them from squealing. The anti-rattle clip is what keeps them from vibrating.

They can still squeal with just the clip, though, iirc.

The clip stops most of the vibration, but not all. The anti-squeal lube precludes the very high frequency vibration that remains and can cause squeaking.

I concede :o)

That is 100% correct.

I've heard sanding the back side of the pads is a good alternative/extra step.

No concessions, my friend. You weren't wrong, I was just bringing up the different high-pitched vibration.

As you know, you are my go-to choice when I have maintenance questions.

I'm still wearing training wheels compared to you.

I was wrong, it was a long time since I've read about this, my mental computer has errors sometimes. Here is what I was thinking of.

I also lube anything that's metal-on-metal, including the caliper pins, with this stuff:
