Never hurts to try ... :)

Requirements:

Must be compatible with 2005 E46 (with sunroof)
Must be the type that works with rolling codes and must be backlit.
Must be in perfect working and good cosmetic condition.
I will have paypal in about a week, but right now can only pay per personal check or postal money order (seller can ship after payment cleared, in that case).
- I can also do any google/paypal online payment by credit card, if you can set up an online invoice, so I can use my credit card as a one-time paypal guest etc.

Please state a complete price incl. shipping to zip 27506 (or 27546) and provide pics if possible.

Thanks.

Ugh I don't like auto dim mirrors - esp. when you can't turn the auto dim function off!
And if it ever leaks I'll have holes on the dash/seats - ack!

Dude... you have no idea. During the summer some lady came in because hers 'exploded' The stuff was EVERYWHERE. Ruined Versace glasses, seats, and all down the radio unit, gear shifter, cup holders.. it was everywhere. I learned my lesson right then with auto-dimmers.

I just emailed that eBay link, I've been trying to get rid of my stupid garage door opener for so long..

EDIT: Seller accepted my $65 and said will ship tomorrow. I'm pumped :)

Haha I was thinking the same thing! Also, all of the people are mailing him asking if $65 is acceptable :rofl. He had to have figured out that his link got out and that he was selling them for $65. I'm sure he's not too mad about it there.. :)

I think its funny how if someone finds a cheap/easy/awesome mod, we all hop on it.

So how much are we effectively saving with this DIY, compared to getting it from the dealer and having them install it?

So how much are we effectively saving with this DIY, compared to getting it from the dealer and having them install it?

All you have to do for DIY is take the top thing out and search and find the wire that's tucked away. Then attach it to HomeLink. Cut and punch out the cloth and insert. Done.

what i meant was, how much $$ am I saving, as opposed to depending on the stealership for the whole thing?
stealer would charge about $170 for the dongle, then at least another $100 for labor?

Yeah, yours definitely looks newer than mine. Oh well.

I wouldn't worry about it - the house is a little symbol anyway and not a button. Main thing you have the functionality, I think. As long as the 1/2/3 buttons look good and light up, you should be fine...

Just clean it with a damp micro fiber cloth to get rid of the greasiness, wipe dry with a new MF cloth.
and then get some NON greasy plastic cleaner/conditioner (Like Einszett Tiefenpfleger, which leaves a nice, MATTE shine and makes black plastic look new) and spray some onto a MF cloth and wipe it well.
An alternative might be 303 Aerospace, but i have best experiences with Einszett Tiefenplfleger on black matte plastic. The stuff is brilliant.

Spray whatever cleaner you use on the MF cloth, and NOT onto the HL itself; then use the damp cloth to wipe the HL

nike001
02-21-2012, 07:42 PM
Yeah I cleaned it with my meguiars stuff I have. It leaves a nice matte finish on everything else.

I wish I could still find my favorite stuff though.. Black Magic Natural Finish Protectant. My bottles always said "NEW" on them.. so maybe they took them off the shelves :( Haven't been able to get a bottle of this stuff locally for a while. Smelled great too. This Meguiars stuff just smells like alcohol or something..

Its range is a BIT less than the hand held remote GDO it replaced, but more than enough for the job.
