Hi everyone
I just had a question about getting a new emblem for my shift knob. Does anyone know the part number? I know you can buy it separate from the knob. I saw a thread on another forum but cant seem to find it there or on real oem. Any help would be appreciated.

I do not think there is a "P/N". Someone may make it aftermarket. Best I could find was for a 5 speed.

Someone help me find the reasoning behind this. They can't be the only one on the planet to get the "inserts"?

Lol... The insert is $170! What rationale is that? The damn knob is only $60. People are morons.

I guess it's because of this part:

The Shift Pattern Insert are the domed style insert, they are not the flat insert found on the newer style BMW shift knobs.

**** EDIT

I get it now, those "Inserts will work with illuminated shift knobs". Check this out:

It makes the "throw" of the shift... Easier.

They're overpriced.
A quick look on eBay returns pricing anywhere from $160-200. I saw one for $100 but that looked used.

Anything from LeatherZ is also grossly overpriced as well.

Holy crap. No wonder they're in the "specials" section; people must not be buying it due to its $50 price tag!!!!

Yeah, I can't decide if i want one. Mine is all messed up and the rest of my knob is fine. So I'm between that or just a whole new knob.

Well if you're going to spend that much money, you might as well just get a new knob as it's only about $10 or so more last time I checked the price. You get a lot more bang for the buck with a new knob.

I agree and that is most likely what I will do after I do a few other projects that are on my list.

Btw where did you see them for 60?
