2005 ZHP sedan with xenons
Yesterday am in the snow I was driving before sunrise. All of a sudden at 50 mph the low beams began to flicker, like a strobe, for 5-10 seconds and then stopped. I then switched the headlight switch from auto to manual on, it happened again....

Only happened twice that yesterday or ever....have only had the car for 2 weeks, any ideas?

Thanks

3 possible choices. Bulbs (not very likely considering age of car), ballast (most likely), or LCM (hope it's not this.)

You can start by finding out which side is flickering. Driver's side or Passenger's side. Then, like JP mentioned above, see if its the bulbs, ballast, or LCM.

If the problem is isolated to just one side then I would swap out bulbs first to verify if the symptom changed. If you still have flickering on the same original side then you know its not the bulbs. Then I would look at ballasts.

I am having a similar problem, but both my headlights flicker at the same time. And when they flicker, the radio sometimes shuts off for a split-second as well. Any ideas on what gremiin I have?

My only guess is the voltage regulator. Really just a guess though...

Headlights - check that the ground wires are ok where they go into the ground "strips" which are bolted into the car near the shock towers and behind the headlights - look for cluster of brown ground wires. I had an issue with losing one side and it turned out to be a weak ground, though impossible to see as the wires are covered with black plastic at the strip end.

Battery checked out fine.

Car should be going to the indy this week. He did not have room for me this week.

Looks like it was my voltage regulator. Car had low and high voltage codes. Alternator bearings were fine so he replaced the regulator and that appears to have solved it. Car is running fine and no more flickering. Ben on a few 45 minute drives and no problems. But I'll update after I have a chance to go on a longer drive.
