I stumbled upon this gently used aFe intake for $200 (deal of the century, maybe). It's got the oiled filter and sounds fantastic, though not quite as loud as my Dinan long-tube in my E36.
I thought it was too shiny so I toned it down a bit. I think it kind of matches the rest of the engine bay now. Thoughts? I'm heading to the dyno next month to check out my incredible gains:biggrin

Nice! I think Dane will recommend you buy the dry filter. I hope to be getting the AFE intake soon- and to improve the heat shield in the area of the expansion tank as well.

+1. It's around $50 shipped I think. Then get the AFE pre-filter. It's a great setup. Ad careful and methodically as I was... I eventually ended up popping MAF related codes.

Thanks for the love.
And now I'm probably going to lose sleep over my headlight bolt's 'character.' :(

As for the oiled filter, I'm usually careful too, but I think I might take your advice and pick up a dry filter.
