View Full Version : I Think I have the Cold Weather Package?

I'm pretty sure I have the CWP..I have heated seats, and even the large washer motor attached to my fluid tank with a hose that runs off.

But on my headlights, I have the blankout panels...

WTF?

danewilson77
01-11-2012, 07:34 AM
Mmm.....you also have ski pass through?

Crickett

CWP is the heated seats, headlight washers, & trunk passthrough (ski bag); sounds like PO just didn't like the popout headlight washers (don't blame him).

Yessir, I do have the ski condom as well.

Well how about that, I have a cold weather package...I just dunno why they wouldn't of hooked up the headlamp nozzles.

What year is your car? Mines a 2003 and I don't even have the blank inserts under my headlights. I don't think the 03's had headlight washers even if you did have the cwp

I got a 4/2005 model. I had to replace my windshield washer pump a few weeks back, I ended up yanking out the wrong pump, the much larger one has a hose that runs off towards the headlamp assembly, and I defiantly could PUT the nozzles in, but its just a blank out panel there right now.

How cool, first day on here and already learned I have cwp =]

My '03 (non-zhp) has the CWP, with the headlight squirty things. They don't work, mind you, but they are there.

Huh, yeah my car doesn't even have the fill panels where the washers would go if I had the cwp. Weird...

I have an 04 with CWP but not heated washer nozzles. Have ski bag, heated seats, and fold down seats too. I think you could order CWP with and without the headlight washers.

If you have the motor I'm sure you have the washers, the pump has probably just gone out.

They (should) activate with the normal windshield wash (IIRC).

They activate about once every five times you activate washer fluid, or the first time if you haven't used it in a while, iirc.

If the fogs are on...correct?

From the owners manual

When the vehicle's lighting system is
switched on, the headlamps will also be
cleaned at reasonable intervals.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1vEwRRPPew&feature=related

I don't believe it has anything to do with the fogs. My fogs are never on.

It definitely does not activate every time you use the washer fluid. Only about 1/5 of the time.

ryankokesh
01-12-2012, 06:44 AM
Maybe the fogs don't have to be on, but I think the lights at least have to be on.

Don't think that's the case either. Mine have activated with the headlights off, I believe.

I'm going to do some digging and see if I can find something definitive on this.

The general consensus from the threads I can find seems to be once every five times when headlights on.

I guess because I always have my headlights on auto, they could have been on.

Yes they are. I wish mine got a little warmer though. I saw someone mention once that they had heard there may be something in the coding where you can adjust how hot they get. Anyone know?

johnrando
01-12-2012, 10:27 AM
Hmmm, I haven't heard that, but I'll check around. Mine get too hot quickly on full, so when I do use them, it's on the lowest setting most of the time, then off. I can't imagine them not being hot enough, so maybe it is a coding setting or perhaps an issue w/the heater.

Cars that don't have the fill panel do not have the package. The only cars that have the cutout are the ones with the washers. It's a different part number entirely for that headlight trim for washer-equipped and non-washer-equipped vehicles.

That is correct sir, I had to cut out 2 squares in the carpeting of the trunk to allow it to pass through. But now those cut squares serve a purpose two fold, because I have access to the knobs on the tops of the coilovers to adjust stiffness now. Will take pics tomorrow.

I have Heated seats, and no CWP. I don't have headlight washers.

The 325i has CWP and the headlight washers, but they've never worked. Does it have to do with lighting or no? I've looked and there's no hoses going down, just a cap on the end of the pump...so that's one thing; but I never hear the motor.

This. Perhaps with the exception of the super cheap models in Europe (316i, 318i)...
All E46's in the states should have heated mirrors though. If my basic E30 had it, an E46 will definitely have it. :)
