View Full Version : Toy hauler for the ZHP!
Having gotten sick of renting trailers from U-Haul for every track day, I've been on a mission to find a very specific ("Lifetime / Craftsman Foldable") trailer that I could use to haul my bike, yet still store in my parking lot. These trailers are discontinued, so finding them is a pain in the ass. They never last more than a day or two on Craigslist (because they're freakin' awesome!), but I finally managed to snag one today:

Bring on the track days! :rockon

What tires are you running that requires a trailer? Just wonderin.
Looks legit.

Nice. Which trailer hitch/receiver did you go with?

I've got a Westfalia hitch that I ordered from some european website (in Denmark, I think?). It's a "non-hidden" version (about $350 vs $700 for the "hidden" one), which arrived at my doorstep in less than a week.
Here's a how-to for an E46 M3 with the hidden version of the same hitch: http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=349258 . The install for non-M cars is much simpler. This hitch basically attaches to the frame at the rear bumper support - it's as solid as they get.

Legit setup. Would like to see a closeup shot of the rear of your car.

Nice setup, but.... a sedan would look more appropriate in this situation.

Nice trailer.....and hitch! Never seen one of those trailers before. I've seen other folding brands but not that one. I was looking for one of those Westfalia hidden hitches but since I sold my bike I kinda gave up the search.

That is one brilliant trailer. I'd consider building one if I really needed it.
Cool hitch too - if you spend any amount of time in europe you'll notice that all the hitches over there look like that. The 2" square receiver bar seems to be a uniquely north american thing.
So in the offroad world that I came from, "toy hauler" means:

and I was thinking "man that is pretty intense." Then I opened the thread and "ohhhhhhhhh"ed.

I wonder what the current equivalent would be if that's discontinued...
I would love a trailer like that so I don't have to sully my interior with equipment for track days.

Not quite the same thing:
http://www.harborfreight.com/1195-lb-capacity-48-inch-x-96-inch-heavy-duty-foldable-utility-trailer-with-12-inch-wheels-90154.html
will keep searching.
nicer version from northern tool:
http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200356493_200356493?cm_ven=natural&cm_cat=netconcepts&cm_pla=Google&cm_ite=
So literally every one that folds like the craftsman one is out of stock. I suspect it is made by a company called "lifetime products."

Naaa....BP needs and IMOLA paint matched covered trailer to keep all of Track gear in.....and keep it protected from the elements. Must have matching style 71 though.

I saw this a few years ago, a Bimmer pulling a Beemer. He was on his way to Alaska.

Actually is wasn't an Adventure, just a regular GS. Here is my 05 I sold last spring. I ran across the guy that bought it last week when I had the ZHP out for a drive. Seeing it again made me regret ever selling it.

good call, thought i saw wire spoke wheels and thought i remembered that only the adventure got the wire spokes. on closer examination i might see some cast wheels in there, but i'm probably remembering that wrong anyway. i guess it would be a 1200gs or 1200gsa and not gs1200 or g1200a anyway so i'm all kinds of wrong. :)
I used to lurk a lot on advrider. really wanted a GS but just didn't feel like learning to ride a bike in metro ATL, nevermind the fact that starting on a 1200 is just asking for bent/broken parts/bones.
nice bike.
anyway, /hijack.
