Well, thats not too bad! And its on the inner wheel and not the outter....the 135 fairy did her best im sure.

Was driving and I felt a rumbling not rough thought it was a nail because that tire was gettiing low on air quicker than the others. Then I was about to pull over to check it but I was on a hill s curve. During the s curve BAM. I imediately turn to the left rear vie mirror to see lots of rubber fly up and out. Then the smell of burnt rubber sunk in. Imo the worst part was having to drive up the hill with the rip tire. I was going barely 1 mph... but the sound of the tire going hurt the most

glad you're ok and nothing worse happened, just make sure not to drive fast on that donut/get the tire replaced ASAP. I've seen a lot of people on the freeway with one of those on recently and it just confuses the hell out of me how people honestly decide to do that...

also, how many miles on that tire/what kind of tire was it?

Well for me was that the tire was probably already flat or near flat and the constant wear through driving put strain on the rubber causing a week spot which eventually gave way. Thats what i think but don't quote me on that.

well it was a Pirelli PZERO and had it since it bought the car. So about 10000+ miles. Definitely had good tread left no way near flat. BTW drove car home and leaving it there until i purchase new rubber.

barring tire defects, blowouts happen typically because of improper inflation leading to fatigue of the tire sidewall and ultimately failure.

with defects in the picture it is pretty much a crapshoot. sometimes tires just let go. best you can hope for is this situation - essentially no collateral, nobody else involved. pretty good ammunition to always be in tune with vibes and sounds coming from the car and to always try to have two hands on the wheel ready to hold her steady.

the problem i have here and i want outside input is i already have two different tires on car pirelli's in back and falkens in front. this happened because dealer (private dealer not BMW) was suppose to replace the fronts with similar tires but could not get them. now if i get these continentals ill will this effect the way the car sits with falkens in the front and pirelli continental in the rear

the other solutions is the rims i got from DW are still fresh and my dad has been hinting to helping me with tires. But honestly have 3 different tires be weird? BTW if i cant get new rubber then i'll probably take you up on your offer

ya well my plan was this get new rims, which i did the style 71's from DW, then take 135 to shop to get re balanced and fixed of all dents or any bends if any. Then nice respray to Gunmetal black. That should make the 135 fairy happy :D

no, get 4 matching tires. Continental DW's or Hankook V12's. Skip the Falkens, the Pirelli's are nice but nothing special IMO

If i do get a tires it have to be through firestone retailer. So that means Bridgestones, firestone, and Primewell. But nothing set in stone. I'll be driving a toyota suv for few days. So I'll just have to wait and see how things turn out.

The offer on the one DWS was to just buy you some time to save some money and figure out what you really want, was thinking about a case of beer for it, that's like $20. If you're going to go to a new set of 4, look at the Kumho 4X, just bought a set from TireRack for $650 including shipping and then get a $50 rebate. After 500 miles, can't feel any difference from the Continental DWS, too early to gauge the wear. Kayger has a set and he loves them, bought these based off of his recommendation.

And I actually have 2 other DWS's for the rear but those would have to be dismounted which adds to the "temporary" fix, so probably not as cost effective.

Is that $650 for the correct factory size? 225/40R-18 Front, 255/35R-18 rear?
I think a paid a tiny bit less for 235/35R-18 all around, so if those are stock, that's an excellent price. The stock sizes for the DWS were insane (well over $700 for a set, not including installation).

Kumho 4X fronts were $103/each, rears were $202/each, shipping was $45 for a total of $655. Horney just bought a square set of 17's for about 4C notes. Then TireRack sends you paperwork to mail to Kumho for the $50 rebate. Believe the rebate applies through January. Kayger and Dane spoke highly of the Kumhos. Don't forget to use the ZMafia link so our family gets a kickback.

So whats probably going to happen is I'm buying a set of tires for my 17" rims i got from DW. It looks like it will be a set of DWS but my problem now is what size i should get. My first question would be what is the current gap width of the wheel to the fender? Both for the Front and the rear. I was looking at the willtheyfit.com and for the rear ill be reducing about 3-7mm, depending on size of tire, and the front would be about 20-24mm. I don't have any lowering kit so this is stock ride. Depending on the current gap will determine if i get 235/40 or 245/40.

With the Style 71: 17x8 ET 20, You should get your fenders rolled, it's an easy process, just time consuming. You're not flairing them so it's not going to change the look of the car. Once you've given yourself enough clearance, you can easily run 225/45ZR17 in the rears, but in the fronts, I would run a slight stretch of 205/45ZR17.

I think you'll need some stretch on the fronts. There's mild poke up fronts. You're gonna have to so some math and calculations for them. On 8's I run 225s. But your best bet is to find out how much you need to clear the fender. Even though you're not dropped, you could rub over bumps.

It's all because of the offset. They're far too low for our regular ol' E46's, technically, without having to roll fenders and run undersized tires.

Well Does any one know someone who has a fender roller? lol. I would go back to my style 135 but my dad and i are concerned about the rim that blew and want to get it check out before i slap another tire on there.

There's a guy in the DC area with a roller, he's on the e46f forum. I also have a front and read 135, eAch are slightly bent. On a slightly bent rear, you can probably balance out most of this issue and not feel it in your steering wheel. The rear one is only very slightly bent, still holds air fine. Let me know.
