I am guilty I guess subconsciously I think that if they see I are for my ride they will in turn take care of it

I give a clean car in hopes they will return it clean. It helps me judge how good the shop is. It also shows I at least take care of my car on a regular basis, so it will be harder to get me to buy stuff.

Sure do. A mechanic will see you take pride in your vehicle and treat it better because of that. I sure don't want anyone throwing a fender cover/protector over a dirty fender on my car. Especially true for motorcycle mechanics where working on a dirty bike makes his job that much more work by having to clean things off to avoid getting crud where it doesn't belong.

Absolutely, although I do avoid having others service the car.
It goes back to something my mom taught me when I was a boy........I would ask her why she was dressing all up when she would go shopping for clothes or similar. She said that if she appeared to care about her appearance and put energy into making *everything* right, she would get better service/help....people would step up their game. I've found that to be true over the years.

i've never had a car serviced by someone else so i can't say. I try to keep it as clean as i can as a matter of pride in ownership regardless of who will or will not see it.

same goes for the workplace.

Absolutely guilty.

I also make sure they know not to courtesy wash it when they're done.

I've never taken my car to the dealer and have only dealt with my local indy dealer where I know the car will be taken care of so I don't stress over washing it right before I take it. My car is usually pretty clean though.

I don't care whether it's clean or dirty when it goes in for service. It being dirty bugs me, but will not go out of my way to clean it before it goes in.

It migrates from the front to the back lol. Only if I have fallen behind on cleaning but otherwise it's not do bad to begin with.

What is "Service?" LOL

My car is a wreck on the inside, but can be made new in a few seconds of throwing out receipts and shaking off the floor mats.

You clean your Bimmers if there's even a slight hint of someone coming over. You don't need a service as an excuse to clean. lol :biggrin

Only time my car goes in for service is when it's inspected, and I watch them inspect it. So no, but my car is pretty much always clean anyway, unless it has recently rained or snowed.

Keeping your car clean, well maintained and running like new is cheaper and more rewarding than any mod.

My car is cleaned before just about anything. I think that the longest is has been since I've owned this car that it wasn't cleaned inside was something like 2-3 weeks. It was a little okay with me since I mainly ride solo to school/work so no one has been in it. I usually clean it before I go anywhere with friends... especially le females ;)

I'm the guy that everyone makes fun of.

I make my service advisor write no wash on the service document, I have a paper saying no wash on the windshield and no wash on the seat.

I do all my own "service" so I don't have to clean it for that reason. I clean it because it looks so much nicer that way! I even washed it yesterday in my suit.

lol. I make sure to wear clothes that have no chance of scratching my paint when I wash my car. I lay on the ground and make sure it's totally clean so there's no way I'm washing it in a suit that I care about

I NEVER clean the car before I take it in for service, it is always cleaned, spotless and detailed anyway.

Not really, but I generally try to keep it clean regardless... it runs better when it's clean. :biggrin

Definitely faster when clean, less wind resistance with slick, shiny paint.

Barely...actually no, not at all.

A car being dirty (with no huge mud buildup or any crap like that) will make absolutely no difference

Yes, I do so long as there is opportunity to. Also, when my cars are at the BMW or MINI dealership, I always make sure they DON'T wash it. They're really good at swirling the paint.

Well that's just logic talking. In my world, my car runs better when clean. My TR8 does that too. :biggrin
