So light dusting of snow and my car starts spinning the wheels pretty bad I have traction control off (held button for 5 seconds) but I got stuck and was spinning the tires while attempting to make it through a light suddenly the brake light goes from yellow to red and my abs light kicks on what the deuce happened?

.unplug battery for a min. And it should/may reset it

that just activated when the car thinks it has lost traction,
for example: when in the rain if the rear wheels slip a little bit those lights will beep and turn on
or many other things cause it such as steering wheel alignment

I would try the battery unplug suggestion ^

and if that doesnt work then..
it usually will disappear after driving it for a little bit, after a few days of driving and turning on and off (normal activity), it should stop showing up,
(just my experience, i got an alignment and the problem was fixed)

You must have been spinning them a lot. I've gotten stuck before.. but the ABS light never came on. It only came on once after I put it on a dyno

Ya I was sitting at the apex of a hill covered in snow and the light cycled 3 times as I slowly crept up to it.... I used to drive a truck so this is gonna take some getting used to

Do you have snow tires or all seasons? Those look like summer tires in the pic.

ya they are summer tires and it definitely shows my buddy said that snow tires will make a big difference I just wish I could get some cheap ones as I am not really wanting to spend a bunch of cash on them

You need yourself some snows for sure.

Yup, get snows. It wasn't an expense I wanted to have either... but its definitely worth it. And its a lot safer too..

Running on snows is a night and day difference. I used to use all seasons but after using snow tires, I won't go back. Had no issues whatsoever driving on snows :thumbsup

Dude. I live in KC too! I had to throw my snow tires/wheels on that morning in the garage cuz they weren't expecting much snow!! I bought a set 4 17" wheels w/ Blizzak LM-60's used for $500 on 17" wheels local. They were a lifesaver and no issues in that snow. Otherwise I dont know if I would have made it to work at 6am.

Its definitely worth it to get them IMHO if you have to get around in the snow. kcbmwclub.com/forum has a set of used 17" wheels for $200 that fit your car if you find some snow tires. (am not seller)

Nice to see another person from KC here =) I may look into those wheels as it looks like we have a chance for snow again tonight and if this is any indication of the future, we may be in for a long winter

Lower your tire pressure if there is snow for extra grip. I've once brought my tires down to 25psi to get that extra grip needed. Just remember that you need to fill them back up to at least 30 if you're going to be driving at highway speeds or hard cornering on wet/dry road again. Your ABS and brake went red because you confused the wheel speed sensors. You must have done some hardcore spinning because I've been on the dyno for 4 pulls and I watched my speed go up to 250km/h in 5th gear unless the wheel speed sensors are more lenient with no front tire movement from a dyno.

Come to think of it I remember it coming on in my car one day playing in the parking lot snow with my car for 30 mins. I just drove home normally and the lights went away.
