Ok guys here are the indications that I have.

Got to work last Friday with no issues at all. Let the car sit all day while I was working and when I turned it on to leave that evening I have the following indications:

Airbag light illuminated
No working steering wheel controls
Gauge cluster remains illuminated when car is off and key removed
Automatic headlights indication light flashing

The lights work, I can change between high/lo. Turn signals work. No blown fuses.

I initially thought slip ring when the steering controls didn't work but I'm at a loss now with the other random stuff.

Let me know what you think.

Yeah....it's a good place to start anyways.

A battery is always a good place to start when you have random electrical hiccups. Could just be a loose cable.

Check all of your battery connections first. If everything is good, move on to the battery. A little fluctuation in the battery in these cars can make all kinds of crazy crap happen.

I bet it's the original.....and at 7 years old...is right near the end of compiled data lifespan.

+1 on the battery.

Seems to be the theme of the week around here.

+1 - I had a low battery and my car would barely run.

That's what I was thinking. I always keep an extra quart in the trunk.

After doing some research on the forum about batteries, this sounds like my problem.
