For $13 bucks, is it too good to be true? It does basically everything, including external torx, which is a big selling point for me. What do you all think? I'm starting my collection of tools and was thinking of starting with this.

$2 off isn't something that I'd pull the trigger on TBH. Wait til you have a coupon or something and then get the deal.

Honestly though...look for tools you like, local, that carry a lifetime warranty. I broke two of my Kobalts doing the Benzs brakes. Took them down to Lowes....and hassle free, they gave me two new ones.

Get yourself a Ratchet Set with a lifetime warranty. Everything I've needed to do on my car has been done with my Craftsman 106 piece set. Got it for Christmas, think it was around $50.

Those might be ok for light duty work but for anything that might be seriously tight you want a good 6 point socket on it. There's just no way a design like that is going to get as good of a fit on a bolt head/nut as a true 6 or 12 point socket. Like you said though, for an E Torx those should come in handy. There are some E Torx that a normal 12 point metric socket fit great on.

I'd do like Kyle said and get yourself a decent size Craftsman wrench and socket combo set. I'm still using some I got for Christmas over 20 years ago.

Great set. Only one down side is that you're paying for a lot of "Standard" stuff vice all metric. The other questions is....do you live near a Sears?

What I did....was I bought the tools as I needed them, and only got metric stuff. Lowes is nearest my house...so I went with Kobalt.

I have all of the swivel sockets, tweakers, hammers, pliers, wire cutters, stubby ratchets, etc as well. Again, all of this was purchased in installments, and as I needed it. Also.....about once every paycheck..I find myself in Lowes and I just pick something else I think I might need.

I'm keeping this in my trunk at all times! I'll let you all know how it fares, but it's a really awesome set. The tools feel very solid and sturdy.

Solid! And kind of issue I've had while driving has been solved with a set similar to yours. And it stays behind my seat so it doesn't roll around in the trunk.

The great thing about Craftsman tools is that they have a lifetime warranty. So if you find a tool on the ground that's not yours, you can head to your local Sears and trade it in for a new one.

I'd say go for both sae and metric ya never know when your gonna need some sae stuff I have a decent set up that I used to carry in my truck (too big for the Beemer) I also used to carry a floor jack makes road side fixes leaps and bounds easier

Lowes is about 38 miles closer to me......closest Sears is in Newport News.

I broke a breaker bar, and a ratchet a few months ago....took em in....no haggle....they gave me the new updated wrenches, right off the shelf.

Nice! Usually nowdays with a Craftsman ratchet they will just put new guts in your old handle rather than giving you a whole new tool. Also, these days, you'll find that everything but the cheapest brands will have a lifetime warranty.

My pop buys me stuff at Lowe's when I need something big and expensive as he was in the Korean War. He told me "don't ever buy anything at Lowe's just let me know what you need." But they need proof, I think he has a card verifying his service.

Lowes descuento; my wife and I have replaced all major home appliances at Lowes during the past 12 months. The 10% saved us literally hundreds of dollars. I tender a reduced copy of my DD-214, works every time!

I just gave it a try on a few bolts. It does exactly what it says. No rounding of bolts, perfect fitment. Supposedly it even grips stripped bolts better than a non-universal tool, but I've yet to try this. I have one somewhat-rounded e-torx bolt that I want to try it out on, but I don't feel like taking off my exterior moulding and messing around with the window just to try it.

The tools are extremely solid - as in, you could probably do some damage with these things. They've got some weight to them. Nothing about these tools feels cheap. I can't imagine any one of these breaking at all; and if they do, each part has a lifetime warranty. The black lettering makes everything so simple to find. One glance down at the box and you can see right away what you need.

The box itself is designed extremely well, too. Everything locks into place, except for the hex set (but it is in its own little case, and each hex wrench is locked into place). You can open it up upside-down and nothing is going to fall out (yes, I've done that plenty of times).

Overall? Totally satisfied. To me, this is one bargain of a tool set. Well...for me especially, since I got it for a birthday present :p But for $80, you can't beat having 6 types of tools in one.

A few stupid things about the set:

1. Doesn't have a 16mm wrench, but it does have a 16mm socket.
2. Doesn't have a 15mm socket, but it does have a 15mm wrench.

Why they did this is absolutely beyond me.

Looking at picking up a Craftsman "Premium Grade" ratchet set (1/2", 3/8" and 1/4") and replacing my "Thin Profile" setup. Has anyone used the Premiums? They are not sold in stores, and really want to hold one to see first hand if they're worth the extra cash.
