So I found a BMW performance strut from a friend for a good price but he says it's for an e90/e92. Is there any chance that it would fit my zhp?

Sounds good. I'm trying to convince my brother to go look at it for me tomorrow and make sure it's in good shape and not cracked/chipping/etc.

just think of it like this, the one for our car usually resells for around $500 even in not so perfect shape (scratched is ok, cracked no). even if you only get that much you'll still do good. I might even have a friend who would want it but he hasn't logged in here in a while so I have to let him know. I'll get back to you
