Hi everyone, lurker-turned-new member here. I live in South Orange County, California, only 10-15 minutes away from three different Costco warehouses. Have owned by ZHP since February 2010. About once per month I go beat on it for AutoX or a track day, but it's treated me well, except when I put the unreliable after-market thermostat in. (It didn't like that!)

I've been on Bimmerforums.com and E46fanatics. As you can imagine, I like to drive, eat, and buy foodstuffs and paper goods in bulk. I'm relatively slow at driving, but gradually learning to go faster. Here are some track day photos of my car from last Saturday, plus a video of a Sunday drive in the rain (same track).

Saturday morning, taking it easy:

Saturday before lunch, turning right

Sat. afternoon on stickier tires, turning hard left with more body roll:

Sunday afternoon drive. Did someone forget to roll up the windows? The white E92 M3 in front of me pulled out of line because they told him he couldn't go on track with his front windows up. (He has leather seats.)

At this point pretty much anybody in a major metro area lives 'near' a Costco. I technically live near the first Price Club out on Morena, which as a corporation was bought by Costco but my lil bro and I still call all of them Price Club. Habit I guess...

Welcome to the family out of lurker status. I've seen you on e46 and always wondered why you picked that s/n, as I live near one too (about 1-2 miles). But 3? That's living near Costco! As you are aware, lots of SoCals in the family. Enjoy your stay.

Wow, you're a friendly crowd! Thank you for the warm welcome. So polite here compared to E46fanatics, or my two visits to Rennlist. I know living near a Costco is not a big differentiator, but it was a username I could be pretty sure nobody else had taken on any forum (or on YouTube). Since Marcus said he has one just one mile away, I checked on Google Maps and the 3 closest warehouses are 1.8, 4.8, and 5.5 miles away, so it's not like I picked a place that was exactly equidistant from all three.

And yeah, I used to call them "Price Club" a long time ago in a galaxy far, far (40 miles) away.

threadjacking seems like it has gone full force...

i posted this earlier then deleted it, guess it works now

there is a possibility there has been some editing on this picture.

I think anything Costco related in this thread is not thread jacking. When our original poster says otherwise, then we'll know that we did a thread jack.

true. i had posted that earlier then deleted it real quick because I didn't think a full on Costco reference was warranted. Guess it's all good. I also just realized I made directions to my house from Costco

Welcome. Nice looking ZHP. Like the yellow fogs a lot! Great pics autox'ing too! Is there an advantage to keeping the roof racks on?

PS, To the M3 driver, I wouldn't have rolled my windows down either!

The roof rack increases drag but has two advantages
1) Makes my car easier to pick out from other silver BMWs in photos
2) I can zip-tie things to it to make up for my general slowness at AutoX

At my last track day (the one with the rain) I zip tied a plastic pumpkin to it on Sunday and got some smiles. Unfortunately the track photographer took the day off, so no online photos of me with the pumpkin. For my next track day or AutoX, I will either put the pumpkin back on or find a lightweight, waterproof, plastic Santa Claus or reindeer who can go for a ride with me.

Hermes: Your house-to-Costco map reminded me of something. I visited the Bishop School once for some kind of tennis camp. That was more than 20 years ago, probably before I had a driver's license.

Been busy... lost job, got new job, long hours at new job, moved to Los Gatos, California. No longer live that close to a Costco, and that one doesn't sell gas. Fortunately I now work fairly close to one in Sunnyvale, and they do sell gas.

Maybe I'll make it to Thunderhill in November... remains to be seen.

Thanks, guys! Had a nice Sunday with the family at the park, went to lunch, borrowed some movies at the library. When my daughter was tired and ready to watch one of the movies, I drove to Santa Cruz, got gas at the Costco there, then did a little surfing.

Same for me, the Costco part. One next to the Puente Hills Mall, Chino Hills, etc.

Welcome to the family. I just moved down from the bay area up north, and although Los Gatos is a nice area for sure, I do like sunny San Diego better.

I just did my first AutoX. I could have done better, the pumpkin sounds like a great secret weapon, hmmmm.

Have fun up there and remember, it does rain and no one knows how to drive in it!
