Not sure what its actual name is but in my honda I have a net that stayed at the edge of the trunk opening. It clipped to the top corners of under the rear quarters and then hung down with a pouch type opening. It held stuff like groceries, bags etc from flying all around in the trunk.

I hate shopping to begin with but it makes me more angry when I get home to find everything out of the bags. I only found a cargo net from BMW which is useless since its like a net trap that goes across the trunk bottom and that's not what I want. So has anyone found a net like the one I described?

You have a pic? My Altima has a trunk net like you are describing.

Drives me crazy too. Not the same thing, but since I have a VERT I keep a bunch of stuff in my trunk (blankets, etc) in a gym-type bag, and I use a bungee cord across the bag to keep it tucked up close to the back seats, and keep it from sliding around.

EDIT: just reread the first post, you already know about this one. There should be a way to make it sit like you want (?)

Not sure if this fits the e46. Pretty sure I've seen pics of it installed on an e46.

reedit:

looks like the e46 P/N is 82260153359, looks like about $19.

What do you mount it on and what broke it? Heavy use or heavy items? Like the idea and hoping relatively lighter items wouldn't break it).

Also not unreasonable to duplicate the pattern in metal. Couple minutes with the plasma and dremel and you'd have an indestructible version.

hhhmmmmmm.

On my e46 it mounts to the side panels or the back of the seat. I had a grocery bag of apples and that broke one of the hooks.

I just took the one that I had in my Honda, it fits but is small and didn't have clips but it was a snug stretch and I placed the loops around the bolt ends for the trunk. Ill know if it works next time I get stuff to throw in there.

At the cash out inside Costco they usually have cardboard boxes for recycle. I took two long stackable cardboard boxes that house veggies. They were clean and perfect. They fit 3/4 the length of the trunk and both of them side to side fit the width of the trunk. They just a bit higher than an E46 oil filter so I can stack them like drawers if I need space for bigger items. :)
