This is why I said the oil pan, see how above the second dry bolt the seeping seems to start. then runs back and down.

Crappy pic, I tried to get the inside of the transmission housing. there appears to be a little bit of oil from the rear main seal.

Another bad pic, i tried to get at the iside of the passenger side axle housing where the seal is. Was dry and maybe tacky at most but was not a mess like the other pics. I don't think thats it because the oil on the bottom of the passenger side axle housing in the other pic did not smell like gear oil. It didn't smell like anything at all.

I cleaned it all up, and will check on it in a couple days, There's no way im loosing all that oil through those leaks its no wear near what I put in so most of it has to be getting burned up. That amount of oil shown all over the car is maybe 4-6 ounces. I tried to tighten the two rear oil pan bolts shown and they did turn a tiny bit. Some of that in front has been there for a wile I guess and somehow over looked it because it was old kinda dried.

A post is better than nothing lol, idk ill see. I still am switching to castrol to see if that does anything. My p/s lines leak too but I've never seen an E46 that hasn't. Its been like that forever.

Interesting comment about the power steering lines oozing. Mine are doing it too, and I was wondering if I should fix it.

Everyone is in the same boat I guess.

Good luck with the leak, hopefully tightening those few bolts will fix it. (I stopped my wife's Sienna from dripping all over the garage floor by tightening the oil pan all around (> feeling of POWER)!).

I checked it again today, it seemes to be extreamly light leaking. That is definitely engine oil under the passinger side axel casing. There are two bolts that run under the oil pan part of that casing that run up through to the block. The oil is running down the bolt threads and that's how it ends up in that area. Its the oil pan that's leaking up front at the lower corner it seems to be. Im just gonna keep an eye on it for now. I get mind f****d just thinking about the process to fix it.

ditto...I check out DIY's constantly. See you have to support the engine. ug..this is one i hope i never have to do. But i seriously may just do it if it's in the cards. (hope it's not in the cards :-) crossing fingers)
